View Full Version : Cuda project!!!
kiwidave 07-28-2009, 07:38 PM Anyone done one of these? I would like some suggestions on a donor body. I'm thinking maybe a JL but need to get the body as low as possible. Probably use RRR T/A wheels. Any ideas or suggestions would be great! Cheers.
Dave..
gonna be tough if you want to drop one on a tjet style chassis.. unless you go through the major chassis mods.. that Bill Hall has shown in his "model murdering" section. Without relocating the rear axle, it will be difficult to get the slammed look.. on a tjet.. The gear plate will give you issues..
Fitting tires inside the fender wells; even with RRR 821's you will have to do some grinding on the inside of the body.
Maybe Dr. Hall will jump in here with the link to his mods to the gear plate and axle relocation..
Later

kiwidave 07-28-2009, 08:35 PM Thanks CJ. Tony in the UK has this one for sale at the moment. It's about the right stance I'm looking for. There is a JL Cuda body that looks like it may work.
Cheers Dave.

Bad Dawg Slots 07-28-2009, 08:49 PM no sure whether this would work for you ,but I make a Cuda to fit a Tomy Super G chassis
slotcarman12078 07-28-2009, 09:54 PM One other option that might work would be using an Xtraction body. Putting in posts and powering it with a T jet chassis. The wider body will allow for a bit more slamming. The wheel base should be OK.

I have already slammed the xtrac Challenger onto a Tjet (see xmas in July pic ) and the dimensions are near the same. My son Jordan is working on his 'Cuda/jet now. It looks fantastic! Plenty of room under there!

Great setup joez. Have started looking at some of the other XT to Tjet for possible swaps. Looks like a great way to get a closer look of the real car.:thumbsup: Dave
demether 07-29-2009, 07:36 PM you can try to sand the gear plate and body too. On my tjet ferrari 250gto, it's what I've done, to make the body lower ;)
NTxSlotCars 07-29-2009, 08:14 PM OR, you could always mount it to a slimline 440x2 chassis, and slam it all the way to the ground.
pshoe64 07-29-2009, 09:01 PM There's a DUB diecast of the 70 Cuda and the grill fits the AW 71 Cuda with just a bit of sanding to the inside of the grill/bumper piece. Makes for a nice look.

Here is a peek, before and after. The body is sitting on the chassis rails.
