Ok guys,

I have aquired a pair of MINT original Tamiya Clodbuster and Bullhead RTR monstertrucks. I'm not really in the Vintage Tamiya loop but these trucks are both 9.9 out of 10 in reguards to condition. They'd be a 10 "IF" I had the original boxes and they were not assembled. I bought both of these locally off the original owner of these from the early 90's.

So my big question is.

What are they worth? I've seen used Clod's and Bullheads in decent shape sell for anywhere from $75-$125 each if they mechanically worked. But these two trucks are as close to NIB as you get.

I don't have pics yet but should be able to post them sometime this weekend. I'm already knee deep in R/C's or I would shelve them as they truly are in 100% timecapsule conditions and worthy of a shelf queen's life. But they will be up for sale soon and I need an idea of what they are worth... Not doing E-bay So they will go up for sale here and on a few other sites.

Any info or reference would be great!

Thanks,

Well your first problem is they have made clods from 1987 and still make them. Yours may have the chevy grille and tailgate, if so that is the only thing that may make it worth something but new in box Clods go for 225.00. So I guess what I am saying is dont expect a fortune off them.

I agree with Bill, the fact they the clod chassis and parts are still in production doesnt make them that valuable to collectors yet. Tamiya collectors are even more picky and prefer NIB kits to New Built ones since a lot of them (for reasons i dont agree with) never build their kits. Check out TamiyaClub.com and you'll see.

Since the clod has been around over 20 years, they are everywhere and even the newer designs are very similar to to the original

The current Super Clod is nearly identical to the original clod except for the decals, color (blue vs red) and the tailgate/grill (both chevy in original) and the blower is bigger on the new one as well. Then there is also the "Metallic" version which comes with tons of chrome including the body.

The original red clod had the chevy logos for a long time before Tamiya went generic and got rid of them. Although they do command a higher price, its not much higher than the non-chevy models. I would say a new built clod would get you around 120-140, maybe add 20-30 bucks max for the "chevy version"

The Bullhead is more collectible that clod becasuse of the chrome wheels/yellow parts and of course the different body which is no longer produced. However, I've been into Tamiya for a long time and for some reason the Bullhead body, in my opinion, was never really popular. For those reasons, I would expect the new-built Bullhead to be worth around 165-200.

Hope this helps.
