Did I over hear someone saying, next week is the, "Knock Down, Drag out, Multi Million Dollar, 2wd Circus Debacle." :hat: I also thought I over heard some one talking about how the the track will be surfaced for tenth? Sounds like fun? Hey; is that next Sunday? What time? All things considered, I had a good time today too.

I think that i overheard there will be a pit bike race on Saturday to make sure the track is grooved up for 2wheel

A fun day of racing and the track was sweet and fun to run. There was alot of good racing and some interesting passing going on in the air of 8th scale.

Great time yesterday, hope to have some video and race synopsis posted tonight. Thanks to all who came out and brought food items.

FYI.... I will get copies of all those interviewed, and had pics taken, by the paper yesterday.......

I was able to avoid that lttle Neer girl all day. I tried to stay lost in the crowd all day to avoid her.

The worry I had yesterday, was we pitted next to Doug Lightcap, and I was worried his daughter Clarr would call me out. I had my camo pit outfit on yesterday, and it must of worked. However, there was a comment about my white legs. Luckily I was shorter than her and all she saw was the glare...

Pam and Lance did call me out, but I will beat them on their own track,,,,,

I am not worried about Trevor Goff (4 years old), since he is under contract, and drives for Team Moisio. I pay him in cheese sticks..............;)

Tim, your reports are always good & fun to read, I could see you being a r/c journalist.
You might almost need your own thread... Moisio Promotions or Tim's Trackside reports...

Racing remote cars fun for big kids, too

By MARGIE TRAX PAGE - mtrax@starbeacon.com Star Beacon

JEFFERSON — Sam Moisio wiped dirt from his eyes Sunday and squinted at the overturned car at his feet.

With a quick kick the little car was back on its wheels, racing off in a cloud of dust at the ARCS speedway in Jefferson. Remote controlled cars provide fun every Sunday at the speedway on Perry Road, as little boys and grown men tend to their miniature racing machines.

Ryan Goff, owner of ARCS, said RC racing brings out the competitive spirit in every guy.

“Today we have 78 racers,” he said Sunday. “My son Trevor is 4 years old and he will race today. This is a sport for everyone, even and especially grown men.”

Goff raced RC cars as a boy, but fell out of the hobby when he was 16. As an adult he enjoyed racing real cars, but found the sport too expensive so he returned to his hobby of high-end RC cars.

“It didn’t take long to get hooked on RC again,” he said.

Brent Wilks, 15, said he has been racing RC cars for five years.

“Racing is competitive and fun. There are a lot of people here today, so the competition will be pretty tough,” he said.

Paul Nam of Harbor Creek, Pa., worked to fix his RC car for the big race. Competitors set up mini work shops in tents to keep their cars in top racing condition throughout the day.

“I love this track,” he said. “This is like a home track for me. The people here are awesome. There is an awesome level of competition here today.”

Steve Weber of Massillon traded competitive ATV racing for RC racing when he started to feel his age.

“I loved racing ATVs, but I got old and it caught up with me,” he said. “Now I play with (RC) cars. They have the same suspension and the same chassis as the full size cars, and it is a challenge to keep them all running.”

Scot Stoffer of Salem said he loves his RC cars, but don’t call them toys.

“These are finely tuned competitive racing machines. They are not toys,” he said with a laugh. “Well, maybe they are big boy toys.”

Goff said he is happy to introduce racing enthusiasts of all ages to the RC hobby. The group meets for races every Sunday until Oct. 31 and then begins indoor racing on Saturdays through the winter. For more information call ARCS Hobbies and Speedway at 440-645-9727.

I think that it's just regualar Sunday racing, but when I see him tomorrow at practice will find out and also will check if there's a time change for racing, since daylight is getting shorter unfortunately.

So, what was the outcome on the electric 8th scales? Did Ben put it to Doug or what? Benny was running very hard in the 2nd round along with a good 3rd round. Then seeing Doug had a broken front sway bar making his car harder to drive.

I had an excellent time seeing everyone once again. Always good times hearing everyone rip on one another about something. The track was excellent but only got better as it started falling apart with holes everywhere. Even with very slim tubes marking the track most of us got used to it after practice. Nice job Ryan and track crew.

Also like to thank Tim for the hot dog.

Yea, he was right. He said there wouldn't be enough rear brake for me. Plus I think the ride-height was just a tad too low.

Did he say something else about it?

Fun track guys, really liked the layout and the big jump in front of the drivers stand. I just wished you ran on Saturdays.

We could have not asked for a better day of racing. A tad bit on the warm side and really dusty, especially when you pit down wind of the track.

We set up next to the R/C guru, and a walking google app, Doug Lightcap. Doug has more knowledge and race tips than Penske himself. His daughter, Clara was on hand and wielding a slash like a true Lightcap.

Food and hospitality was 5 star as usual. Mom Goff prices are dirt cheap and food was plentiful. Mrs. Goff, profit is not a dirty word.

Thanks to the Star Beacon article, that ran Sunday morning, plenty of spectators were on hand throughout the day. I heard that some of the R/C flyboys, who showed up in attendance, were possibly switching to more grounded sport.

The Jones Gang Race team, of Jim, Tina and Jarret, brought in the most food items and won free racing. Tina, promptly donated the money back and told me to added it to the food bank. Thanks Jones gang for giving back!
Hope it comes back to you ten fold!!!
I can't remember who all won the hotdogs in the "Weiner Holla"

Drivers started showing up at 8:00am and race started promptly at 12:00pm.
78 racers, 9 classes and 11 heats. The show ended just before dark.

The track held up fairly good all day, taking the beating it did. Must remember that it is called off-road. The Baja 500 is not run in a Walmart parking lot. Track was watered in between heats by "hose men" Ryan, Todd O, and Steve P, and watered again just before the mains. Those three can sure wield a hose. At times, I thought I was watching a well choreographed dance routine.... When you don't race, as I do not, you can notice these odd moments at the track.

Only snafu was in the Mod Corr 4 x 4, when someones truck caught the timing loop wire, and no one noticed it. After a brief discussion and the sun going down tina was declared the winner. Best part of the race was at the end, seems everyone just laughed at what happened and moved on to the last main.

I again notice Bill Kurtz set up in his one story bungalow, with A/C and running water. Neatest pit area I have ever seen next to Scott O. These two really know how to organize. I wonder if they accesorize there wardrobe before they leave the house. Just asking, not wanting to start anything, maybe I should delete my last thought.

A special thank you to Rick D and the gift of the fuel bottle for Ben. Here is another guy, who can organize, and also is a rolling hobby shop, both nitro and electric, 1/10 and 1/8, and a helpful mechanic. He fixed up Harold T's Truggy for him and then Harold thanked Rick by going on and beating him in the main. Rick is always willing to help.

On a sad note, Vic Yancar had another fire, no not a lipo, but a motor in his e-scale. this guy just can't catch a break. Vic just keeps coming back, thanks Vic.

Thanks again for all who showed up and participated as usual alot of smack talk and laughs. Just doesn't get any better on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Videos up next

I really liked the track yesterday, layout was fun with big air.

Thanks Ryan for letting me use your xxxcr. I might take up competitive kite flying instead, no wait, I can still crash that into the ground everytime I fly it. :freak:

I agree with Ron, saturdays would be nice.

Brent, next time you leave the house, make sure you remove the strings from your shirt. :jest:

Thanks for the memories Tim, I may have blown a motor this time around which come to think of it, I couldn't have given myself a better handle here on Hobby Talk but I plan on ending the summer on some better notes if I can help it. Looking forward to battling it out with Kris and getting into an A main with my E-scale and actually finishing a main with it, that would be awsome:thumbsup: and if I took some people out a few times in frustration I apologize. Thanks for the good times Ryan:thumbsup: BTW I need a 2050kv for my Buggy if anyone has one to sell. Thanks

although my entire goal while racing was to pull over to the side and stay out of everyone's way, I still had fun on sunday. I was just trying to get used to a new car. Had a great time and thank you. (Although I did get my win by default in the main LOL just kidding)
Thanks again guys

4Corr Main was a good race... too bad about the whole time loop issue...
It's interesting though that my personal transponder still got picked up and seemed like the house ones kept skipping laps. I think the result had me at first (lol) and everyone else was done every other lap.

Tina nice to see the new corr platform and hang in there, just some more practice laps with it.

Hmmm I have the receiver, but no extra servo or esc that would work, plus I think Ryan is limited as to what's left or available as extra pieces in the shop. I think alot of it has been used or loaned out over the last couple weeks and I think he's working on his cars as well.
