Check out this website: http://www.comeseethis.com/gearing/Default.aspx

You can enter your car, most motors, and it gives you good starting point for gearing. I'm not sure where's it's getting the est final ratio from that it's grading it off of but it's still a pretty cool starting point. Too bad it doesn't have any crawlers on the list.

A few more days until the shootout. Should be a good time.

If anyone is interested I have a bunch of 2wd and 4wd buggy tires I need to sell. They are mostly bk bar type tires. Most are mounted slightly used and some are new.

They had 3 heats of 10 electric 1/8th buggies at AMS Raceway in Michigan last week.

i'll have mine this summer. just no fun with the small indoor tracks.

Not sure fully why, but among the barrier is the higher cost of the 1/8th chassis, 1/8th motor, larger heavy duty esc's, larger batteries (i.e. need 4s - 5s Lipo's) being one of the main issue's I'm sure. Also the fact that there is not currently an established accepted battery, motor, and esc technology in place that is considered fully reliable with low failure rates, far as use in heavier & larger 1/8th scale applications such as those E-Scales for racers in general to be comfortable across the board far as that goes.

This is what I hear and my understanding on this. I'm sure though as time goes on, things will continue to improve and get better as racers and manufactures start to figure things out from all the feedback and experiments (failures and successes alike) on & off the track.

However as of late (and seen over the years) racers in general have always attracted (or gravitate) to what seems to be the most fun class, and that seems to be 4 x 4 corr short course truck racing right now at the moment, which is more affordable, with easy entry for many and half the cost of a 1/8 th E-scale.

This being said, from the future here out, I see the 4 x 4 short course as the current fastest growing class in popularity nationwide everywhere, it is just plain fun and appealing for many, well over their 1/8th scale electric counterparts which seems to taken a step back as of late. So much that I am complementing on getting started with one possibly.

What's the schedule for this Nitro April 2nd and 3rd!!!

Bob Imbrigotta
03-23-2010, 08:08 PM
Many options for battery and motor/ESC for 1/8 scale. I had my Mamba monster for over a year and not one reliability issue. Initial cost may be higher than 4x4 CORR but long term racing costs have been minimal, any cost incurred has been due to operator error. IE: HARD CRASHES

03-23-2010, 08:49 PM
Granted things have improved lately in a few areas, but not to the fullest extent yet to where they should at this point where a comfort zone can be found, and higher costs is always a factor.

Just simply stating my opinion from general feedbacks I got from racers over the years about why 1/8th E-Scale isn't as popular as some expected it would at this point is all... Leaving it at that.

Allright, how is everything looking for this weekend's racing? Bet the track will be great and fun to race on for all classes!
