View Full Version : I Love My Mummy!!
John P 07-24-2009, 04:54 PM Oh, that was FUN to paint! I don't usually do a very good job on people with skin tones, but dirty rags and dessicated flesh? No problemo.
The photography didn't quite get all the details, of course. But everything was done with washes of brown and black. The bandages are Panzer interior buff with a brown watercolor wash, a little black, and the occasional splotch of moldy green.

Cro-Magnon Man 07-24-2009, 07:38 PM Excellent work, even on the stonework on the wall behind.
They never look quite as handsome as their picture on the outside of the sarcophogus, do they?!

John P 07-25-2009, 09:18 AM Thanks gang! :)
The cobra gets no closeups, 'cause I didn't do very well on him. I kinda rushed him with some airbrushed stripes to finish up.
Oh, btw, the sarcophagus was painted overall Testors gold (square bottle), then airbrush-shaded with Model Master burnt iron.
Just Plain Al 07-25-2009, 09:25 AM Nice John, really good choice on the colors.
The mummy and sarcophagus never looked better.
Great work, John.
