Hey guys, i'm working on a new custom semi. It will look very close to the attached pic, though i am thinking of a different color scheme. I have managed to get the "jet engine" mounted complete with smoke! :woohoo: The only speed bump i've hit is how to make the smoke billow out of the engine. I'll post a pic later to show the current progress.

... How about a zip-zap or similar small motor with a mini fan blade mounted inside the engine housing? nd

I would but that is where the smoke generator is. Right now i'm leaning towards forced induction by using the air generated by the truck going around the track through an intake port in the front

COOL!!!!

Yeah Kewl!!!! Nice semi jet engine truck idea as this is a neat concept and CJ would like a real one I am sure.

Took apart a HW clear green pop bottle car of sorts to get my jet engine for a future project.

Bob...smoke on the water and fire in the sky...zilla

Interesting project.

How about....Ram Air + Turbo?

As the armature is somewhat of a crude impeller, I might consider using a ram air intake duct and couple it with an exit duct to drive your smoke. By routing it through the motor housing perhaps one could accomplish the desired effect by combining both active and passive pressurization.

Dunno if the combo would increase the final exit pressure of the duct or not... so some 'sperimentation is in order. See how a running bare chassis would effect a candle flame or your smoke generator...whatever. If you can get it leaning over you definatlely got it licked.

Keep in mind that most smoke generators take a few secs to come up to maximum efficiency; and that regardless of overall efficiency all locomotives present the effect of bending the smoke trail over in the opposite direction of travel. Even the slightest increase in pressure would maximize the effect.

Here is one that was done already... uses a estes rocket motor , Smoke is from the parachute charge..

http://slotcar64.freeyellow.com/st_rocket.htm

Built by John Peckham of Greenbriar Raceway, Rochester, NY..
This one is screwed down to the deck.. according to John,, when it was run on a track it was a rather "life changing event".. I believe was the words... so the mounting was necassary for safety reasons..
I think I would look at smoke charges for a locomotive,, maybe overload the stacks with the liquid.. so as to develop alot of smoke.. never tried it,, just speculating..

Well here is the rocket truck update. I fixed the smoke issue and it now flows quite nicely out of the back. (pics will come when i get back over to joez's and take a few) All that's left now is sculpting and painting to clean everything up so it looks all purdy-like:rolleyes:. I'll keep you guys posted.

Thanks for posting the pics Joe. That is where the truck is currently at. Mostly there is just sculpting and body work left.
