I am currently building up an XTM for the rookie stock class until I can afford my T4 anyway here is the setup
tekin g20esc/axiom stock motor
17/87 gearing
5200mah 35 c lipo

but the motor gets way hot and fast..something isn't quite right with the esc because it will go foward all the time unless I put -85%on the Subtrim for throttle and about -50 on the throttle trim. my question is does this have anything to do with the heat issues? or is it something else?

anyhelp would be greatly appreciated

You need to reset the endpoints on your radio. Not sure how the Tekin esc works so you'll need to check your manual. Make sure all the trims are set to zero on your radio and your throttle endpoint is set to 100% before you recalibrate. This may not be the cause of your overheating issues. You may be overgeared on your pinion, gear mesh can be too tight, something may be binding in your drivetrain / transmission, or any combination of the above. Running a lipo will not have any affect on a motor this way. Hope this helps.

Make sure you have good ventillation. You need to get the warm air out from under the body, and cooler iar in. Try going to an 18 or 19 tooth pinion. You will lose some top end speed, and gain torque. whats your track layout like? Does it have long straights? If not, then the loss in top end wont be an issue. You can also get yourself a small fan to blow on your ESC. DId you ever measure your temp after a full run? What is it? Have you ever thermalled? Does your LiPo get warm? Whats the outside air temp where you live?
