GreenLight1 07-21-2009, 09:08 AM 1:64 GREENLIGHT SE HOT PURSUIT SERIES 1 IN STOCK
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (July 20, 2009) GreenLight has reached new heights with its one-of-a kind 1:64 scale Hot Pursuit launch. GreenLight has always taken pride in its reputation for authenticity and this product mix is no exception. Separating itself from the competition, every vehicle in this line is a recreation of an actual authentic car and is officially licensed by the individual police department. These are not fantasy creations, these are the real deal. This six car series includes:
- 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 Indiana State Police
- 1971 AMC Javelin Alabama State Trooper
- 2006 Dodge Charger Dodge City Police
- 2008 Ford Crown Victoria Wayne County, Ohio Sheriff’s Police
- 2008 Ford Crown Victoria Arapahoe County, Colorado Police
- 2008 Dodge Charger Ridley Township, Pennsylvania Police
The Indiana Troopers Association had been trying to locate a Flagship vehicle for the Indiana State Police for several years when a 1965 Ford Galaxie was finally discovered. In 1999 a full restoration of this beauty was made possible with help from community members eager to assist in keeping its authenticity. It was transferred from Angola, IN to Indianapolis where it is on display at the Indiana State Police Youth Education Historical Center.
The 1971 AMC Javelin was first used by the Alabama State Troopers because the state simply could not afford the usual full fleet of the full-size Ford. The Javelin was different from any car used in the history of Alabama, as well as the most abused. This pony was among the last to use the old-fashioned siren which could barely be heard when the car reached 100 mph.
The 2006 Dodge Charger first hit the scene at the 2005 New York International Auto Show. Contrary to civilian model, this version features many upgrades in order to handle the harsh demands of police work. Heavy-duty brakes, a severe-duty cooling system, police-performance Electronic Stability Program and performance-tuned steering are just a few of the special upgrades on these Chargers. Ridley Township located in Pennsylvania utilizes the 2008 Dodge Charger casting with a unique red color for their police vehicles making this a rare and authentic version.
The Ford Crown Victoria is a classic for police departments all across the United States. This series features two of the 2008 version including Wayne County, Ohio and Arapahoe County, Colorado. The paint scheme used in the Wayne County replica is used by Ohio Sheriff’s departments all over the state, varying by which county the officer is located. Arapahoe County uses their die cast versions for promotional purposes and to encourage safety education with children.
These die-cast replicas feature opening hoods, detailed engines, real rubber tires, metal body and chassis, detailed graphics, custom license plates and are officially licensed by the respective automobile companies. This release is now available through hobby shops and wholesale dealers. Be sure to look for Hot Pursuit at Toys ‘R’ Us, Kmart, and Meijer towards the end of August. Each car has a MSRP of $5.99 and a production of 4,500 units open to the public.
GreenLight® Collectibles is a premier manufacturer and marketer of officially licensed, authentic die-cast replica vehicles. In 2009, the company has expanded to thirteen distinct product lines. GreenLight die-cast replicas are available in 1:18, 1:24 and 1:64 scale and are officially licensed by General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Chrysler, Carroll Shelby Licensing, Barrett-Jackson Auction Company, 20th Century Fox (SPEED Channel), Grand-Am Road Racing Association, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and Bridgestone Americas.

FLOYDFROG 07-21-2009, 02:23 PM This sounds like a good series, but if these cars follow in the footsteps of most cars in past releases, I'll pass. I'm talking about,of course, the oversized extra-wide unrealistic looking tires.

Are you talking about Greenlight or did you mean Jada? :drunk: I know Jada has those ridiculous sized tires and rims on all their cars.

There are some GL cars that have really wide front and rear tires that look out of place, however they have slowly been working on this issue and have been phasing in more realistic tire and wheel sizes.
For those that are interested Russ has Hot Pursuit and Motor World in stock over at Milezone's... check em out!

this is true, the club members were polled about 5 different things that we wanted to see. Fixing the tires so that they were more to scale won, and we are now starting to see the results.
UTH (Greenlight club) certainly listens to it's members unlike Matty and the RLC.

Alot of the GL cars have huge out of scale tires on them, a true 64th scale tire for a stock production car is about 1/8 inch wide which = 8 inches in the 1:1 world. MOST the GL cars have tires that measure .220 to.250- which means they are 14-16 inch wide tires in the real 1:1 world, which is pretty unrealistic since me along with millions of real world people have never seen a 14-16 tire on factory cars especially the FRONT.
On SOME of the newer castings GL has started making in scale tires after constant hounding from customers. The tires on the new Baby Blue 67 coupe are great they nailed that one now they need to scrap pile the rest (heck sell the dies and inventory to another company) of the tires and rims in their inventory and get tires to fit all their cars like the ones on the 67. Once the new tires & rims are developed they need to sell wheel packs so we can swap out the 14-16 wides for the 8-9 inchers.
Here is a Comparison of a GL Mustang on the left compared to a Shelby Collectibles Mustang on the Right, correct proportions were incorperated into the design process by NightStalker & the rest of the Shelby Design team & it shows in the finished product.
You can See in the pics how properly scaled tires on a car add to the realism!!

SURPLUSgoodies 07-22-2009, 05:05 PM Ok cool. I actually did not notice how big they are, in terms of the 1:1 size. Thanks again for pionting that out to me!

Bob Justbob 07-23-2009, 10:16 PM Personally I still like the one on the left too. Looks like it could hang a turn.

They don't have any cars from that generation that are 4 doors in their casting base. They made an accurate police series based on real cars with their existing tooling base. I'm sure we'll get the 4 doors some day.

Its only series 1 Kevman. Heres hoping they do a few four doors from that era in future series.
astroking2 07-28-2009, 10:55 PM This is a really nice series and can't wait to get some of them.
As far as the "wheel debate" goes, I like the wheel sizes that GL is using on their cars. Yeah, they may be inaccurate, but they look better than those narrow wheels that JL and others put on their cars.
GL, if you are listening, this is one collector who likes the wheels just like they are. No changes needed.

They've already made the changes. The ones that aren't changed merely haven't been phased out yet. There was a vote on UTH quite a while back and accurate wheels and tires won out as the thing to work on.

fingers crossed, I really dig the new MB Dodge Monaco that came out. One in Greenlight would be AWESOME!
The line-up for 1:64 Hot Pursuit Series 2 is currently being finalized. Series 2 will contain at least 2 major state Highway Patrol vehicles and 1 major Canadian Police vehicle. Series 2 is slated for a December arrival.
HP Series 2 should be a well rounded set and a nice follow up to Series 1!

Steves164 07-29-2009, 09:13 AM The 65' Ford will have to do as a 2-dr hardtop since that's all there is for tooling . Very happy to see the attempt to match the CUSTOM 500 in the picture . But without the correct taillights (round lenses inside the square housings) , they might as well made it a GALAXIE.
Glad I saw the pic of the rear end prior to picking this one up .
But all in all , Nice idea for a series.. looking forward to the next release.
My DREAM crop of cops would be .... every one of the various cop cars that ANDY GRIFFITH drove...

I'm pretty sure that the 65 Ford pictured IS a Galaxie, at least that is what it says on the package, and before you ask, yes the Galaxie that Indiana State Police used WAS a 2-door not a 4-door. Think that was brought up on another forum somewhere.
The actual 1965 ISP Cruiser was indeed a 2-door Galaxie. We worked with the Indiana Troopers Association on this replica to ensure accuracy.

Croz,
I am not questioning the fact that the ISP used 2-door 65 Fords . The point that I failed to clearly make was that they were 2-door post ( sedan ) , not 2-door hardtops ..
As far the real cars being a " Galaxie " ? I'm doubting that..
I've search the web and I can't find any reference that shows there was a model called Galaxie . CALLING ALL FORD EXPERTS!!!! help me out here... "Galaxie 500s" have the distinctive chrome lettering on the front fenders. The "Custom " and "Custom-500" lines are located on the rear quarter panels. The base model just has the word CUSTOM , while the CUSTOM 500 has an additional emblem next to it with the "500" inside.
I found a site that has all the VIN decoding info for 65 Fords , and it shows all models and there is none called simply GALAXIE.
Very strange.... a there a Canadian version called the Galaxie...???

You guys should do the 1970 Superbird Police Car from New Mexico highway patrol. That would be nice!

I absolutely love that we collectors have a source that prides themselves on being accurate.
I also love when I can learn something new.... The picture on the package shows a 2 door sedan with the same rear quarter panel lettering placement that is consistant with the CUSTOM 500 .
Sorry , but I'm too curious at this point to let it go.. but did the ISP send pics showing that their cars said GALAXIE on the rear panels? and that there were Galaxie taillights?
below is a pic of the Custom 500..

so was a javelin actually used as a patrol car? Very interesting!

greelt-prod 07-30-2009, 08:00 AM There was a great article about the Javelin patrol cars in Hemmings Muscle Machines in the December 2007 issue. They used Javelin's in Alabama in both '71 and '72 in limited quantities.
zed300 07-30-2009, 10:45 AM I 'm sure it would be cost-prohibitive, but I really would like to see a Custom 500. Even though it was the bargain model, I always liked the look of the round taillights.

Funny that you picked that particular Custom to show as an example. That is one of a very few 65 big Fords with the 427 engine. Mike's had that for sale for a huge number awhile back.
