My son is no longer interested in keeping his collection of Hotwheels and Matchbox vehicles. I'd like to sell it for him, but I have no idea what I'm doing. There are three bins around 26"x 16" x 18" filled with these vehicles and all in unopened cards. They date from around 1998 - 2001. I was thinking of selling them on eBay in lots of 50-100, but there are hundreds of vehicles and I'm overwhelmed by the prospect.
Does anyone have any idea what these could be worth each? Am I foolish to call a dealer? Is there a chance that some of these vehicles from these years could be especially valuable?
Help!!!

More than likely, you have common cars that would be worth a quarter or two each. These days, a dealer would not be interested in buying them. Your best bet is to yard sale them.

Mimi,
Most of us collectors have been in the same situation, and with the years you mentioned there are only a few that are valuable, and without a list if each car it's impossible to tell you which ones to look for. Any of them labeled Treasure Hunts have some value, the rest are like Markkaz says, .25 each, I've sold them in lots at .10 each in the past. Good Luck

This is true on the value, 25 to 50 cents each at the most. You could always donate to goodwill and get a tax deduction.

Not necessarily true. I buy .25 - .50 Hot Wheels all the time.

I have been doing this for the last two years. The IRS allows $1.00 for each HW or MB
