Just letting u guys know theres a new offroad track in the works here in pittsburgh. (THe tracks actually in Jeanette which is about 30min east of town) This isnt my track but im posting everything here for my friend, the track owner. The track still needs some odds and ends but its coming togther in a short period of time. The track has amb scoring, water etc. The drivers stand is being put in as we speak and should be ready to be ran on this sunday the 26th. We plan on having a shakedown run to test out the amb scoring etc this sunday the 26th and race entrys will be free.:) From what i understand the electricity/power will come from generators and you'll have to bring your own table/popup/chair.etc.

The name of the track is hobby heaven and the owners name is chris harper. You can contact me on here for more information or chris directly at 724-205-3788. He plans to run on sundays also. I'll try to keep this thread updated with information as i receive it. I'll also post more details about this upcoming sunday and running/practicing etc. Heres a couple of rough pics to give u a idea. ONce again this isnt my track but im trying to help a friend and also to gain some more interest. Thanks for looking. The pics were right after it was pretty much built but the surface has gotten much better since the pics.

rob martin

yea theres def room for popups etc. From ur area u would just come straight on the turnpike and pass the monroeville exit and go to the irwin exit. Thats right after monroeville. From the irwin exit the tracks 10-15 mins. So basically if u could google/mapquest from youngstown to the irwin that would give u a ballpark figure and like i said john i ll def get the address for u later!! I appreciate it!!

Yes I lived in plum, so it would be roughly 3 hours for me then seeing as I'm 2 and a half hours from plum:( what day is racing going to be? I might come down and run mcculloughs one day and here the next:thumbsup:

There will be a schedule posted very shortly. This sunday though were going to be down there testing out the scoring system and getting everything in order to race. Basically like a shakedown run. There wont be any fees to run also.

track opens at 10. It will basically be a day of practice etc. The owner is going to ask volunteeres to test out the transponders and such.. He said he will be there from 10 till dark so the track will be open all day if the weather allows

I couldnt be down for the shakedown run but the track looks fantastic. The layout flows nice, wont require hours of practice to master, it will be easy to make minor changes to so Chris can keep it from being boring over time and there are plenty of places to pass cleanly. Chris is open to suggestions from racers and he is well on his way to putting together a great place to run rc cars of all types. Lets all get involved with this track and make it ours to come and play in the spirit of sportsmanship and good clean fun. Well clean might be pushing it, I get dirty every time I race but it's good dirt! Great video Rob, and you are a gracious gentleman for helping a good guy get this thing started. Chris is new to this track thing and it is a major undertaking(I have done it before and it aint easy) so lets be patient and let him get it down, with our help! Craig.

I would like to thank everyone for their interest in our new offroad facility. This is my first real attempt @ building a track for myself and putting together a race program. For all who have visited our track I thank you for having patience with me as I sort things out. We are going to have our first official race on AUG 9 2009 @ 1:00 PM. We will close sign ups @ 12:30 We have electric provided by a generator, AMB System and Plenty of pit space for pop ups and tables. We will race on Sundays and practice 2 days out of the week. Any questions please call me @ 724-205-3788 Thanks Chris

As a former resident of the STEELTOWN area it is good to see that racing is alive and well. Good luck on your track and may GOD bless you with many sunny Sundays. Maybe I'll send one of my RC10's home to my son so he can run with you. GOOD LUCK!!!

Is that Eric Wilson's gut in the pic above? C'mon man...dont pan out THAT far! All I wanna know is if Jason Lapay, Scott Siegel, Eric, and Rob will have a few beers then throw down on the track.

Are there house transponders available or is each racer to bring their own personal?

Looks great fellas...very close to home, NICE!

This track still racing? I've been dusting off my stuff as of late. I'd like to race but a need a place real close. This place fits the bill! Looks like a nice place.
