i run dodc 17.5 edm class. have had heard some people mentioning the batterys and motors tend to die off after few months of hard racing. has anyone noticed or got proof of this? im not sure if it is me or just wrong set up but car went from pulling down straights to being pulled so i figured id ask eveyone here and see what they say.

I'd go over the set-up from start to finish.Batt, motor, radio, esc, rollout,"HEAT"!!
Not necessarily in that order,I do know too much heat for too long will kill motors......
Go over the drivetrain too, maybe something binding up,bad bearing??............

lol found some bearings bad on the hub carriers and replaced. still bit slow. running in the 160 temp range. the m11 radio is new to me but havent seen anything in it that would be cutting me back on speed. and the tekin rs is set up to be pushing the motor. curioius if its pushed to much and stator was wearing. as ive heard on few novak sites that some high current esc's will do that. but thats only thing i can think of.

I read your post in the Tekin thread too. 2 10ths of a lap is what your lookin for??How much are the other cars leaving you behind?? You could gain 2 10ths a lap hittin your entry marks spot on as best you can.I should talk about drivin' I can't hit 2 laps the same out of 10....................
There's a good read in the general forum "how would you find 6/10ths"
Give it a read, lots of good ideas ;)

looked it though. but my best lap is a tenth slower than the other guys slower laps and 2 tenths 2.5tenths slower than their best. ive been ending up 2laps behind in 4min

edit: if my best lap could make it near theirs id be more assured it was driving. but when my best laps are 4.6 and my top 20 lap avg's are in the 4.7sec range or less and the other guys are best lap of 4.4 to mid 4.4s and averaging 4.5 range for 20 laps its like fighting winless battle. i wasnt slowest but im trying to bridge the gap with the other guys.

an yea i been reading though that and already went though most that. figured id ask this since ive overheard that people have had issues with motors and batterys just being less potent as when they were new after few months of racing.

In general, overheating your motor will weaken the magnetic, sintered rotor material and you may need to replace them often.

ESCs with advanced timing, can blast the motors with bursts of current that both weaken the magnets and can also vaporize the silicon coating on the wire windings leading to shorted out motors.

We do not cover motors with burnt windings under our motor warranty---the are basically discards. The stator and rotor are destroyed
