View Full Version : I thought I was safe from this scale...
Vifam7 07-16-2009, 10:17 PM I'm very new to collecting diecast cars and I thought I could stay way from this scale and concentrate on 1/64 minicars. But I started noticing the better detail and variety available in 1/43 scale...
There are some really unique vehicles in this scale!
A few days ago I found a diecast of a car that I've always liked of styling of. It's not a really special car but it's one that I thought would be neat to have as a diecast. I'm actually surprised that a diecast model was made of it.
Anyone else like this car?

alex1485 07-17-2009, 12:31 AM don't see too many around but compared to its compeitors, it was pretty advanced but PRICEY was its downfall.

Norev.
The folks at Ebay are charging an insane amount for this model. Even in toy form this car is pricey!
Thankfully I found a US retailer that sold it for a more reasonable price.

I wouild say pricey and underpowered were it's downfalls. No one really wanted to pay that much for a Subaru, but more would have if it had had at least 50% more horsepower.

I thought it wasn't the lack of horsepower but rather the lack of a good transmission to capture the power from the engine that was the issue. I mean 230hp doesn't sound too bad.
Performance probably wasn't top notch but it does win a lot points from me in the looks department. :)
PWSchuh 07-18-2009, 09:02 AM 230 HP wasn't much for a car that heavy, The weak transmission may have been why they decided to limit engine power, but I don't think customers stayed away initially because of the transmission. Its issues did not become widely known until the cars had been on the road for a while and by that time the sales figures were already lackluster.
alex1485 07-18-2009, 02:06 PM they made an awd version, right?
PWSchuh 07-18-2009, 06:27 PM They were all AWD.
Superbird77 07-19-2009, 05:26 PM It's a beautiful design from Giuigiaro, glass areas are enormous on this car... I think it still looks very modern. If I remember correctly they has some sort of head-up display that projected some info on the windshield. I wonder why many of the modern cars don't have that option...

Corvettes (c6) and I think Cadillac CTS's have night vision. Some other cars might have night vision (like bmw or mercedes) but I know the Corvette has a HUD for MPH and other things.
