Those Merc's are cool! That blue one will look nice next to my Grabber Green Boss 429... Thanks Russ!

And it looks like they are releasing another car to confuse the chase car hunters :p

"What you talking about Willis?" (Diff'rent Strokes reference) There was just 4 brand new castings in release 5. True, we need to do repaints to help recoup the cost of the toolings, but end of the line. Really? I guess you will not be interested in the next three new castings or the others in development.

Thanks,
Sean

P.S. And NO, you can't have any hints.:)

Ground Pounders! Let's hope Sean of M2 has a '57 Dodge Sweptside and a '57 El Ranchero planned for that series among other trucks of the 50s and 60s.

You guys need to watch my blog more

Now those of you who are astute will note there is a small clue for a new series coming soon from M2! GROUND POUNDERS!

http://1stopdiecast.com/Blog/Jl40th/GPoundersProto.JPG

We went around the world today trying to get the final piece of info for all of you but the final decision has not be made if the 1st release will be 6 or 12 cars, so at this time we can only give you a little "SPY" Photo Sneak Peak and will have pre-orders as soon as the final piece of the puzzle fits. This is a prototype and the cars will be painted with chrome engines and wheels and tons of M2 detail. I for one can not wait for this line!

Have Fun,
Fred

What is the actual theme for this line besides "Ground Pounders"? I got excited that it would be a truck theme, but that Charger makes it look more like a fantasy line :drunk:... I really hope they just stick with authentic cars.

Not the direction I was hoping M2 to go in.
That being said, hopefully these sell well so they can afford to make new castings of '60s big boats!!!

My thoughts exactly. Like the way you think Dave about land yachts of the 60s. Let's see some '64-'66, '67 and '69 Imperials plus the 2nd gen suicide door Lincoln Continentals- '66-'69. How about a '62 Chrysler New Yorker hardtop wagon too?

Sir Crafty in thought.

Right on Sir Crafty, many many large-barges worthy of 1/64th scale replication.
Worthy, but not surprised many are not yet made - though JL and M2 have been making many non-muscle car models, I've often wondered why Cadillacs are so poorly represented in diecast. I would think Caddys (other than '59s) would sell rather well.
Pick any year/model between say '48 to '72...I can't think of one I wouldn't buy, can you?
There wasn't a dud in the bunch...even the 4drs!!!
I would do bad things for a light pink '64 Sedan DeVille (4dr)!!! Maybe it would be included in a series call "Cars of the '60 Las Vegas Underworld". :)

Funny you mention Cadillacs and 4 doors. About 5 years ago when I was at Funline working on Muscle Machines. We where tooling up a 1/64 1964 Cadillac Sedan Deville 6 window for the Jesse James line. It was right before Action Performance closed down Funline. So I can't remember if it was cut for die cast with a couple of samples made or not. But it did look cool.

Funline, huh? Cool! This may have come after you, but I really like the '61 Chevy 2dr sedan and have a few copys. Well done stuff, looks almost perfect.
Too bad about the Caddy - if you guys do one it should be a 4 window though. :)

Actually, I'm hoping M2 keeps the new 50's cars coming.
How about some station wagons?
I'd love a 57 Plymouth Sport Suburban.

I would like to see more GM and Ford cars. Don't get me wrong. I like the Mopar cars, but I would love to see the '55 and '56 Belair's(to complete the trio). I would also like to see:

'58 Impala
'59 Impala
Nomads
Apache's
Cameo's
Oldsmobile's
Pontiac's

Even some 40's cars would be awsome!

A 2 door '56 Merc Monterrey would be nice

I for one do not care too much for the custom 50's cars, let Hot Wheels do them. I would rather see all originals. Also the choices for the chase and the chrome are poor. We have a "chase" '57 Chevy and a "chrome" '55 Desoto. You could have at least reversed the colors on these two.

I was really looking forward to collecting M2s when they first came out, but lately I'm starting to lose interest rather quickly. IMO, bad wheel/tire combos, re-paints in a new release & now that prototype Daytona with stacks out of the hood??? A better choice of chase cars should have been used for this new release.

Nice release! Got to have the 57 Chevys including the chase and the blue 49 Mercury. I want to see more 50s cars also....also some station wagons! How about some Buicks and Hudsons?

This is what I'm saying! Change it up a little. You have enough variety to make different chase and LTD cars.

Can't understand why you guys get excited about the Merc. It's smaller than the 51 Crestliner and the "A and B pillars are too thick. Racing Champions made a better casting but lost it in the other details like the grille and bumpers. I'll buy theChevy in red but this is the first release that Im passing on the rest. A '56 Ford F-100 appears on the packaging, is that it on the catalog,,or is that a '53-'55???
