Yeah I know its probably a sore subject by now, but could one of the mods go through it, and delete the OT useless junk in it?

Its kinda hard to sift through it looking for the actual information.

Personally, I'm glad it was closed, because daily, I'd get an email announcement about new posts, and eagerly open it up hoping for more preview stuff, only to find inane ramblings about anything under the sun.

I started going thrugh it again today looking for the actual fact/question/answer posts, and its tough to sort out in it's current state.

If the mods find this thread offensive, please feel free to delete it or close it as needed.

I woulda thought the fans here would have had more respect for an official product preview thread.

I, too found that thread about 70% discussion about J2 stuff NOT related to the Moebius kit, need any more be said why Dave closed it. Dave can be abrupt in his posts and moderation but he is RIGHT- if you want to talk about Gemini whatever wish lists/modifications create a NEW thread just for that. It seems almost every thread started meanders and gets hijacked into something barely resembling the original intent...frustrating .
Better stop now before I start wandering..!

I dunno, I thought it was like life in general. Topics bring up side discussions which bend back on topic, and sometimes at 3 AM you can get a little goofy.

I kinda find posts that are nothing but facts without any emotion to be rather boring. "We got back the first test shot and have sent back our revisions" well, that's nice, thank you, but what is there to talk about?

What's gonna make this kit fly off the shelves is passion. I've seen alot of that in all those posts. And I've seen some fun interaction from the people who contributed to this new kit, which, I think, I would NOT have seen in a series of dry "nothing but the facts" posts.

I wait with great expectation for news of the latest test shots, post-corrections. I would like to see pictures. I reject the notion that all this discussion has soured the PTB on sharing what's going on with the kit because that would be shockingly small minded and petty behavior. This discussion wasn't about somebody's fan fiction or fan art, where ego and self image is a factor, this was passion about a commercial product in its pre-production stages.

Maybe it's bad form. I dunno. I admit that in my 'other places' life I run into people who post off-topic, WILDLY off-topic, as in nothing but 'Me too!' type posts, the kind done just to put their name on the page and get their post count up. Bugs me no end. I think there WAS some of that here, like the recent 'spray can' battle, but overall? I wouldn't call the closed thread 70% off-topic. Maybe 20.

But, it's not my house, it's not my rules, I can stay or leave as a free person, not much more anyone can ask for.

Let's see if I made it under the wire before the closed hammer hits :)

Oh, I don't mind a little thread wander from time to time, BUT when 90% of the posts aren't related to the topic, thats when it wears a bit thin.

well, what is there to say, otherwise? We've got a post (I think page 5) where "look, rough draft, before revisions but check it!" and that's it. Should the thread have been closed then?

Be sad if it had been. We'd have not gotten the discussions about the differences of the flight deck between seasons, or the 'prop/set Vs Mini' discussion of the landing legs. You remember that, I'm sure.

New pics would be welcomed. I suspect they'll make it a 'closed' post to prevent discussion. Yay, huh? So if another boo-boo like the 'park bench' seats of the PL kit or the upside down inner airlock door happen (which I do NOT expect, but SOMETHING might be off, just because that crap happens), we'll all just have to suck it up, man.

Garee & Spindrift,
I agree that a thread that becomes largely unrelated stuff starts to wear thin after a while - that's exactly why the Moebius Jupiter 2 thread is now closed.
However it is stuck to tjhe top of the page for now so it's easy to find.
Unfortunately I have neither desire nor time to go thru 1185 posts and try to wnnow the wheat from the chaff.
I don't know about moderators on other forums, but I try to do this as time allows and honestly time does not allow that.

To be perfectly truthful I blame myself for all the unrelated stuff in the thread - I think that I should have agressively edited or closed the thread long before it got to 1000 posts as it had largely become a rambling general discussion of Jupiter2 and other topics not necessarily related to the details of the Moebius kit.

I believe that the purpose of Gary Kerr's original thread which was to inform the members of some details of the kit had been served in the first 25 or so pages of the thread.

Now, at the risk of incurring more wrath from those who disagree with my decision to close the J-2 thread I believe that I'll close this thread as well.
