Aaron Howe 07-10-2009, 02:38 PM double cash for out of towners??? wow.. thats huge. They all better get there asses up here and "attempt" to beat up on our talented Michigan drivers.
I'll be checking if I can make this, because it sounds like its going to be a great time.
jasburrito 07-10-2009, 03:25 PM Sweet. Cannot wait. Try not to break the bobcat this time! Anybody have 1 of those new losi SC,s yet?
http://www.losi.com/Products/Features.aspx?ProdID=LOSB0105
Tdevil 07-10-2009, 04:27 PM A Main is showing the in stock date for the Losi Strike as August 17. My guess is you won't see anyone with one until the end of August/early September.
S.Higbee 07-10-2009, 06:56 PM For anyone that has yet to run this track you NEED to come represent yourself for the state championship. The last big nitro race drew 60+ entries. Can't wait to see what new layout is created for this special event. Put it on your calender and DON'T MISS IT! Later Scott
Uncle E 07-10-2009, 07:53 PM I can't wait to see what Roman comes up with. This is like the 4th track he'll have this season. I think this might be D's first race!
HERSHEYSQUIRTS 07-10-2009, 08:15 PM You gonna have early sign ups? Since you are limiting it to 200?
Uncle E 07-10-2009, 09:02 PM You gonna have early sign ups? Since you are limiting it to 200?
Coming soon.

That's funny you say that......I was watching him last night thinking he wouldn't be the low man on the totum pole. Put him out there, he will learn.
Damn another "E", better buy a 2.0 8t! August 8th........BE THERE!
Later Scott
REVO-Beat-U 07-10-2009, 11:56 PM You gonna have early sign ups? Since you are limiting it to 200?
Yup like E said, I will have it soon. We just got everything confirmed today at 3:30PM so its going to take me a couple days to get everything in place for it!
GREASER 07-12-2009, 12:23 AM so no practice? does this mean the first time we run on the track is our first qual? Just wondering

At this point, yes that would be correct. We want to make sure there is no unfair advantages for anyone since this is a cash race. Now that could change. Once we all get there if everyone wants to run a few practice laps we can do that. But we would put that up to a vote before we allow it. We are flexible, we just want to keep this fair for everyone.
i think that if you truely have no practice you will have a tough time getting a good turnout. and i am sure a few would show up not understanding that and want their money back as well.
if you put it to a pole i bet that a large majority would want at least the normal approx 2 hours of morning practice time. and since it is billed as a large race most would also want the oppertunity to practice friday as well.
it is your race but i think that format wont fly.
ehartman_49348 07-12-2009, 10:47 AM I would have to agree with what was posted earlier. I would now allow and practice on the new layout until race day and provide 2 hours of practice time prior to racing.
hankster 07-12-2009, 01:35 PM I actually think that is a very interesting idea. We know what tires work so that info would not be a secret. Having no practice other then the couple of laps before your heat would really show who can adapt and learn.
Maybe at most a controlled practice the morning of the race where each driver gets 5 minutes of practice.
Uncle E 07-12-2009, 02:20 PM Guys would want to pay attention (spectate) to the first round of qualifying. Something to discuss for sure.
Mainly just wanted to get the date out so guys could place it on the calendar

I have never heard of anyone not going to a race for a reason like that. In most cases tracks have open practice the day before a race and no one shows up for it. So I am going to have to disagree with this logic.

I'm still split with this idea. The idea of the race is to see who is best right? That's the idea of all races. No practice at all does just that, everyone starts at point zero and the best racer that day wins. That might not be the fastest guy at the track, it might be the guy who can figure out how to hook up best that day for the tracks conditions. To me no practice sounds like a blast, show up and race, lets see who is the best that day. But Hank brings up an interesting idea to. Limited practice time. Everyone gets XX number of minutes on the track and that's it. Now race. I am totally open for discussion on this topic. Lets here what you guys have to say.
Leonard 07-12-2009, 05:06 PM I actually like the idea of no practice, evens the field a bit maybe. Could be interesting.
revo.... many "special event" races have practice the day before and if it is big enough maybee 2 or 3. case in point is the ftms racing series. it has always offered day before practice and i have been to about 10 of them and on friday at least 15 to 20 guys average practice at some point during the day. and any other special race that ftr raceway holds always offers day before practice.
i am not against changing things up once in a while but many guys will travel a long distance, the east siders are between 150 and 180 miles one way away. then probably spend more than normal in entery fees seeing that it is a special event which is ok and then they are going to throw down their cars on the track cold?
we had this type of problem a few years ago at a track that opened in the down river detroit area. the owners expected guys to show up on raceday, enter and not turn a lap until their first qualifier. lets just say it didnt work out and that was only a club type racing program with regular entery fees.
dare to be different but i bet if you stick to that format you wont even get 100 enteries let alone 200.
i am not trying to be negative i am just letting you see it from a regular racers point of view. and more experienced racers will want the practice sessions even more than the average guy.
REVO-Beat-U 07-12-2009, 10:29 PM Thanks for the input we will take everyones thoughts into consideration before we make the final decisions. We already have people from Ohio and Indiana talking about coming up for it, so I expect a great turnout and a real high level of competition. We hope to see you out for it but if you decide not to, we understand. Its going to be a great time! :woohoo:
you need to have open practice on friday if you were at stateline on saturday after the rain and saw open practice what a zoo at one time there were 30 drivers on the stand and the line was all the way down fridays practice was a blast.....dont start out turning people off ...keep the same format as we have allways ran and it will work...i know i will not go to a race in ohio or any state that said no practice...becuse i need it.
Uncle E 07-12-2009, 10:44 PM More to come just feeling out where everyone is at.
Loony 07-13-2009, 01:32 AM I love the idea- No one touches the track until the first qualifier.
But if you do decide to do that- you better make sure NO ONE even takes
a lap after its build.
I'll be there...

I agree that it does even the playing field racing without practice as far as the layout goes. However, the locals do have the advantage of knowing what tires will work and what setup works for the track surface. People that have never raced at Roman's will not know what base setup will work for the surface. That gives the locals an unfair advantage, as they will be able to get up to speed in their first heat already, while others will need more rounds to get a good qualifier in the books. Unless you do rocket-round qualifying, locals for sure have the advantage!
REVO-Beat-U 07-13-2009, 08:09 AM This is pretty much what I figured would happen. We would be split just about down the middle, half the people liking the idea the other half not liking it. Thats good, keeps things fresh at least. I agree with Loony, if we did this we would have to keep EVERYONE off the track till race day. That means someone has to camp in Romans back yard to make sure he isnt night racing.
In the next couple days we will have early entry forms and the final rules for the event posted. Until then we can only speculate on what those rules might be..........
The tension mounts
grunt66 07-13-2009, 09:19 AM Revo,
Even in NASCAR they have practice. The local guys will have some what of an idea of what will work and what won't I think you'd be better off allowing some practice time not saying a whole day but a couple hours. Just my two cents worth

So we can expect to see you out to race this event then right?
HERSHEYSQUIRTS 07-13-2009, 11:16 AM Have the Locals post set ups and tire choices that will help the non locals. I got Clearance from the WARDEN so I will be there too. Great Idea on no Practice.
do you have a MOTOR limit in the OPEN SC Class? or 17.5?
REVO-Beat-U 07-13-2009, 11:47 AM do you have a MOTOR limit in the OPEN SC Class? or 17.5?
We have two thoughts on this at the moment. First would be that we run ROAR rules for the SC Class. So 13.5 and above would be part of the open class. This would give us a ROAR legal stock class, and anything that does not fit into the stock class would be open class.
Second thought we have is, just throw all the SC Class together and run them all as Open class. I think we will have problems with that idea though. There are too many people with Stock Class SC that will be at a disadvantage against the open class vehicles.
Right now I would say prepare for a ROAR rules Stock SC Class, and an Open SC Class that will have no limits on what you can do to the truck or run in it. This track is pretty big, so you should be able to run a large motor in your SC and be able to use all of it!
My plan is to have all of the rules and everything ironed out by the end of the day tomorrow. I should be able to have fliers and all that available for download by Wednesday morning.
Loony 07-13-2009, 01:17 PM How about a tire rule?
Just a thought.
Maybe pick a popular tire (choosen by someone who has raced there)
that would level it out - make the grip level even and put set ups as
the most important thing along with driving.
Just an idea.

I had the exact same thought, but then I heard the complaints start. I dont have that tire, does it mean I have to go purchase it in order to race......and I stopped that thought before it even began.
Loony 07-13-2009, 01:31 PM I know what you mean...
REVO-Beat-U 07-13-2009, 01:35 PM I know what you mean...
It's sad but there are toooooo many people who would rather try to find something to complain about than just have fun and race.
grunt66 07-13-2009, 01:45 PM If the Boss says I can go i'd like to be there
REVO-Beat-U 07-13-2009, 02:02 PM If the Boss says I can go i'd like to be there
I say you can go CJ, is that good enough?
Would be cool to see you out again to run some off road though.
REVO-Beat-U 07-13-2009, 02:48 PM Due to demand, we will be opening up the 13.5 super stock classes also for this event. We will require a minimum of 6 entries per class though. It also is confirmed that we will run a Stock SC Class and an Open SC Class using ROAR rules for the stock SC class.
hankster 07-13-2009, 02:53 PM I was going to suggest a Masters class :)
Roy Dallier 07-13-2009, 06:06 PM I was going to suggest a Masters class :)
HEY me too Masters class or a Super stock 13.5 class

REVO-Beat-U 07-13-2009, 07:59 PM If there is enough to make a class I dont think a Masters Class is out of the question either.
