Ok i have a 2002 murray 10 horse rideing mower. When i start it and let it warm up it will start spraying dark gas out of a hole in the air filter case. i dont have a air filter for it yet and dont know if that could be part of the problem. it seems to run fine besides that. i dont know what it could be please help.

Sounds like the needle/seat in the carb are not working properly.

Thanks dean i will take off the carb tomarow and look at it. What is the hole called where the oil/gas is comeing from. Breather? and if that is the problem is there anything else i need to do before i run it?

There is oil also? The breather is hooked up to the air filter housing. I assume the gas is comming from the throat of the carb/air filter housing. Is your oil level for the crankcase at the proper level, not overfull.

There are 2 holes one biger one that goes direcley to my carb and one smaller one that the gas is comeing out of. my oil is acually a little low. i had to wait intell the morning to get oil. It is defently gas but it looks realy dark like there might be some oil in it.
thanks

Do you have a model # of the motor?
You may also have internal issues causing blowby, bad rings or cylinder scratches. On the compression stroke air is getting past the rings into the crankcase causing oil to come out the breather.

The color description and your low oil level is making me lean twords blowby. Type in blowby on the net and it will describe it.

That is up to you. This would eliminate the gas issue. Do you feel that the crankcase oil has been contaminated with gas? If so change it. If the needle/seat has not been working properly, gas will get into the crankcase. When the engine is off the fuel will keep leaking into the engine.

Well i found out some new info on the mower. the previous owners had it upstide down and tipped on it side trying to fix the broken mandrol under the deck. so i think that gas filled up the crankcase when it was on the side. could that couse all this to happen?

Definatly. Change the oil and see if that solves the issue.
