trophyman 08-15-2009, 11:19 PM Vello Racers,
For those of you who are entertaining the though of entering the Insane Speed Run at the Velodrome Nationals in September, a challenge has been made. The first person to make a official lap of 100 MPH or better will recieve $100 cash. That's right 100 MPH = $100 Cash. The lap must be made under a official timed practice or run and the cash is only available to the first person who goes 100 MPH or better.
There is a limited pit space inside the offices at the Velo. Don't hold me to the price but I think Linda charges $20 for the inside space. I will be talking to Linda on Monday to confirm this. If you are interested in an indoor space email me at toadster48@yahoo.com and I will foreward to Linda. The indoor space are handle by the Velodrome staff and I have nothing to do with it other than help you obtain the space. We will try to accomodate your needs so you will have a good time at the Velo.

trophyman 08-30-2009, 10:36 PM Velo Racers,
The final fun run is over for the 2009 season at Major Taylors Velodrome and the Velo Nationals are just around the corner. (Sept. 11, 12, & 13) For anyone planning on camping at the Velo this year they won't be able to park a camper on the front parking lot as the Arts Fair is ging on at the Art Museum and they will be useing the Velo as parking and bussing people back and forth to the Art Museum on Saturday. As to those racing you want to arrive at the track as early as possible on Saturday as good parking space near the velo entrance will be a premium. If for some reason you cannot get a parking place close, pull up by the Velorome gate and unload and then go park your car. If you need indoor pit space Linda is only charging $10 for the luxury of pitting inside the air conditioned comfort. We will try to get a head count on Hobby Talk to see who is running what classes. If you are interested in running in the insane speed run drop me a e mail and let me know. Hope to see everyone at the Velo on Sept. 11, 12, & 13th. Gates open for practice on the 11th at 10 A.M. and the track will be open till 8 P.M. Saturday the gates will be open from 8 A.M. untill 8 P.M. and on Sunday we will open at 8 A.M. Friday is practice with a controlled practice for the Insane cars from 4 to 6 P.M. On Saturday we will have a drivers meeting at 10:30 a.m. followed by timed practice for the Insane Run untill Noon. The first of 4 heats will begin at Noon and at the conclusion of the 4th heat the Insane Speed Run will beging. Sunday morning the last chance qualifier will run at 10:30 followed 1 hour later by the Mains. If you have any questions let me know.

John Foister 09-05-2009, 07:00 PM Hi Guys, I am starting to get ready for the race and I have a few questions.
1.) Is there a battery temp rule?
2.) Is there a motor temp rule?
3.) Are dry ice motor cooling devices legal? I don't think they should be, but if they are I need to get one built.
I am running 2s 10.5 and the speed run Gerry.

John, glad to hear that your gonna make it over. Obviously, cars have not been teched at the fun runs, but I believe they will be for the Nats.
I believe it will be 8.44 V pre-race tech.....I'm not sure about motor temp rule or cooling devices. I don't see a problem cooling the motor before the race however you want, but I don't think any kind of onboard cooling devices should be legal. I'll post your questions in the velo track discussion thread so we can get some answers. See ya soon!!
mGraves 09-06-2009, 12:19 AM We will be checking battery voltage at the Nationals. The batteries must not be over 8.44v at pre-tech inspection. We are not going to check motor or battery temps this year. When your car goes thru tech it must pass ride height, roof height, weight (38 ozs.) and battery voltage. I don't agree with heating batteries and dry iceing motors but this has not been addressed this year so we will let it slide. Chime in and let me know if you agree but it's too late in the season to be imposing a bunch of new rules.
This is straight from Gerry...if anyone has anymore questions go to the velo thread under Track Discussion. I think you will get a better more accurate response. See you all soon!
onefastdude 09-14-2009, 06:54 AM Results.....................
trophyman 07-07-2011, 09:48 PM Velo Racers,
Are you ready to go Velodrome Racing at Major Taylor Velodrome? The Velo is now under the management of Marian University and I have been able to negoiate the use of the Velo for this year. We are going to have a 4 hour practice sessin on Aug. 6 from 12-4 P.M. and we will run our Velodrome Nationals on September 24 from 9 A.M. untill 5 P.M. The rent on the Velo is more exspensive that in the past so depending on the turn out this year and the interest shown will determine the outcome of Velo racing next year. The cost for the practice day will be $10 and the cost for the Velo Nationals will be $25. If you want to pay for both day on Aug. 6 you can pay $30 and save $5 for the two days. Sorry for the late notice but I am dealing with a committee now instead of one person so it takes a little while to get decisions. As of now we will run with the same rules & classes as last year but will run whatever shows up. Drop me a note and let me know if you are coming.
Hope to see everyone there.
Gerry
