Did the Torino Cobra come with the rear wing? Everyone I saw (which is, granted, not too many) did not have a wing.

Ford experts - what do you think?

TORINO'S :woohoo: Thank you M2!!! I love Torino's and there aren't enough of them in my collection. I'm real excited about these!

I do not think they did have a wing. I did a little more digging and could not find anything to support it either, but it may have been a rare option?..

I like the Torino Cobra. In my Google search I didn't find a single shot of a 70-71 Torino with a wing. None the less I'm happy it is coming. Hopefully the size will be correct 1/64 unlike the Mustang.

How about a 68-69 Torino? Not a Talladega, at least not to start with.

The 70 Cobra's were pretty bare as far as the exterior goes. I think the only major option was slat windows...

Nice casting, but since my last M2 purchase I´m very dissapointed with this brand owing to scale problems.
Mustangs are not 1/64 scale (as they marked in the blister),Also Cutlass is not in correct scale and I´m afraid Super bee and Road runner has the same problem too.
I don´t understand what M2 are doing with scale, I hope it´s only a mistake in this series, if M2 continues with this problem I think I will not buy a M2 anymore.

Not really in love with the Torino's chunky slats nor custom wing. I've been waiting for a great model of this bodystyle for a long time - it was Motor Trend's 1970 Car of the Year (yeah, I know, woo-hoo) but I'm gonna have to wait to see this one in person before I buy it.

Hi Guys,

I did find a few with wings, but they are now 39 year old cars. So along the way parts could of found there way onto the cars. Here are a few that I found with wings. The 1970 Ford Torino Cobra really seems to be a rare car to find at a car show.

Thanks,
Sean

The Ford guys didn't know about the Cobra Twister Special? I am a Chevy/GM guy and knew about this. Here is a site, not much info. http://www.twisterspecialregistry.com/

Ouch! Keep in mind a lot of you guys have a few years on me in knowledge and some of you even experienced this stuff :p Thank you for the info. on that though Sean, I knew of the Stang Twisters old and new, but never realized it covered multiple models.
I guess the next question is, if there is a Twister Special Torino, you're putting the spoiler on it that doesn't seem to hardly exist in real life, and the real deal is rare, why aren't these Torino's you are releasing Twister's?
Sean it's been a while since we've heard from you on here, any chance you could give us some updates on what all is coming from the 1/24 area, Autothentics, and even more muscle? Thank you!

Harristotle, I am not jumping on the Ford guys. It's all in good fun man. The Twisters will come in due time. The other 1970 Torino you might want to look into is the Torino Type NW (North West). I can't find too much info, but it is on a Torino coupe body not a fastback.

I have been super busy the past few months with new projects coming. Not sure how many people check out the M2 blog, but I have been dropping some spy photos of unreleased product. I am trying my hardest to keep the blog going.

I know you were just teasing lol, so I had to throw an old people comment back
I know all of the collectors on here appreciate your interaction and information on these boards. I was not aware of the blog, but I will add it to my favorites and keep an eye on it.

Just checked the blog... race cars!? Sweet!

Since JL and Hot Wheels have already done the fastback or Sportsroof version, and now one is on the books from M2, I'd like to see M2 do the coupe body style as on the Type NW. What would be even cooler would be to add the center post, and vent windows, and do a 70 1/2 Falcon with the CJ engine and hood scoop. Not many were produced that way but a few have found their way into musclecar magazines now and then. Wouldn't one by M2 like this be a knockout?

Sean - killer blog! Thanks for the heads up, I (and I'm sure many others on the board) have added it to our regular diecast reading.

Those peeks at race cars look very promising.

Also, that gorgeous E-type would make one hell of an addition to M2 line-up, don't you think?

Cheers,
G.

I would really love to see a 70 1/2 Falcon in 1/64!

The Cobra Torino never came with a rear wing. I put one on a grabber blue Cobra Torino I had. The one problem was that the rear wing included a bracket that bolted the two bolts from the wings pedestals and then bolted to a rib on the underside of the trunk lid. So you basically had 4 attachments on each side (visualize a sideways L-shaped bracket). The spacing of the rib underside of the trunk lid was narrower on the Mustang than the Torino so you could not attach those two side bolts. The Mercury rear spoiler had an even narrower pedestal gap. Now the 71 Mustang rear spoiler may have been wider but the spoiler pedestal was way shorter which I did not like. On a side note I never cared for the rear louvers. The rear window was a pain to look out as it was without the slats further obstructing the view.

Keep in mind that the Falcon pictured is not the same body style as a Cobra Torino. It would probably be easier to convert a Mercury Cyclone to look like a Falcon than a Cobra Torino.

That Falcon Cobra is COOL!! For once a white car that doesnt have a red interior . A Torino coupe would be an excellent car to do . Torino 500's , NW edition , Falcon , 71 Spring edition with halo vinyl roof , etc ... Lots of versions ... Maybe those Torinos Sean pictured have had the Cyclone rear wing attached to them .. Where theres a will , theres a way - to make it work .. Hope M2 puts the Magnums on future Torinos too .. Also , Ertl did a 70 Torino Twister in 1/18 a few years back ..
