Talking bout the ESC deal... need to see what's going to be run so i can get my gear right. Bill slotracer577 12-26-2009, 12:02 PM With the Sportsman Trucks it would be nice to know what we have to run for speed control timing. Have been running BRL which seems pretty equal with what was available at the start of the season, ie V200 for tekin. Would like to know soon to figure out if I have to start testing with 0 deg timing and 180. You can test, but it has to be on a asphalt flat track with capped tires thats not sanctioned by ROAR or TOUR. Just kidding LOL! Sorry! I dont know...I hope they have the info soon.....it seems alot of Tekin guys are asking the same thing. I will have the truck flyer up today pretty much what most are thinking we are doing with the new 'limited timing esc rule' from Tour. Also will have a cool video and flyer for the 600 maybe tonight. Lots of good buzz on the 'birds. One month away! Mike Larry B 12-29-2009, 12:51 PM Mike, Do all receiver packs lipo/life need to be in a hard case? RCThunder 12-29-2009, 12:53 PM Hi Larry.. no they don't. Al Spina Fan 12-29-2009, 05:27 PM Anyone have any thoughts on the new flight rules and getting our stuff on the plane? This year could be a real challenge and Mike may want to give us the low down on shipping stuff to the Hotel. Of course I will be on the companies private jet with the Penthouse Pilots and the onboard stripper poles but some others may need some guidance. lol harmocy 12-29-2009, 06:28 PM Hey guys!! Mike Now you went and disapointed me Mike I have both new speedos set and ready to battle and now you have gone and done what I thought you would never do but hey I guess you have to please the masses here??? I will still be there but maybe now I will run in another class but just to clarify you will not be puting a 'speedo rule" in anyother class??? I will still be there but maybe now I will run in another class but just to clarify you will not be puting a 'speedo rule" in anyother class??? Its just the 17.5 TOUR truck class! Everything else is open ESC. You CAN run your ESC at 0 degree timing. Al Spina Fan 12-29-2009, 09:28 PM According to TOUR, 17.5 truck is an entry level class. Looks like the beginners are starting out with top level equipment...:( harmocy 12-29-2009, 09:37 PM According to TOUR, 17.5 truck is an entry level class. Looks like the beginners are starting out with top level equipment...:( Well as a beginner I would suggest to someone to be buying the best speedo for that time because it wont be long before something better will come out so why go and buy something that is already dated??? As far as beginner the BIRDS is not for a beginner and you well know that I just want to run a sweet truck with 1 cell I wish they had 13.5 one cell like they do around here I respect TOUR heck I even bought 4 sets of stickers but that class was way too slow that is why they adopted to go along with the class with the addition of the 13.5 instead of a 17.5 in my area Al Spina Fan 12-29-2009, 09:44 PM You are correct that I do well know that there will be past A main winners in the 17.5 truck class. My comment was directed at those who were disappointed that they put an ESC rule in place for this class. They do offer 13.5 1Cell at the birds..... harmocy 12-29-2009, 09:50 PM You are correct that I do well know that there will be past A main winners in the 17.5 truck class. I also wish they did not impose a speedo rule it may just have made the 17.5 truck go a little faster is all I was hoping!!! rowlow7575 12-29-2009, 10:14 PM U need the beginners 2 help keep this sport growing and if they want 2 go 2 BIRDS let them. Why not have a class 4 them. I was thinking that I'll drive up and you can round trip me back to my car after the BIRDS. Al Spina Fan 12-30-2009, 09:19 PM Is it worth a lap? I know what the response is before he even writes it..... and it has nothing to do with racing laps. jbm38 12-30-2009, 09:41 PM Anyone have any thoughts on the new flight rules and getting our stuff on the plane? Just a thought for you. Keith Brown 12-31-2009, 12:46 AM Very Cool to see that the 2c classes will have better showings than I thought. I was thinking I might be racing with the same faces I see on the West Coast Drivers stand every month. Looking forward to my first visit to The Birds.... Better start sorting out this gear. K..... Looking looking great! Yep he has more fun talking than racing:thumbsup: Al Spina Fan 01-02-2010, 03:35 PM Hey Mike what is the run-line on the oval??? Just trying to get some things setup Thanks Great Question! Generally it ranges from 140' to 230' feet. The "mixers", as my friend from the great white north calls us, run the 215 - 230 line or the 140 - 160 line. The pros run 172 - 176. Every year is varies a little and we do not know until we get there but if you set up for 160 you are only a tooth away assuming you have massive bite in your track like we do at the 'Birds. RCThunder 01-02-2010, 04:20 PM Thanks Peter.. sounds about right 172-176'ish. Posted this on my site... but figured I would refresh here also. Had a meeting with the hotel on Thursday. It went great! Rooms are on pace to pass last year (and we already met our requirement). Dozens of names reserved that have yet to register (more than half I could see and are not on our on-line racer list yet). We have our room block for a couple more weeks BTW as many email me asking if they can still get their rooms.. so yes you can. They more than likely will take our racers up the event since we met our block requirement. I will be working on class counts this week. Right now we only have racers names on-line that have sent in entries (not multiple entries from these racers). I know Manufacture's row is only about 10 percent entered and the Florida Cracker Room is just about full with 60+ racers in it (again only about 1/3 paid and therefore not on the racer list). The race is stacking up to be one of the best ever. So much new stuff added to the program this year. I will be highlighting all this soon. Stay tuned for daily updates on our race site. Some new exciting news to come. The countdown is on... less than 4 weeks away!!! Just a note for oval... the big class right now is COT with 34 cars. We do have an A and B main for 21.5 car and for 21.5 truck also already entered (some have e-mailed me wondering)... to be honest all classes are looking healthy. 10.5 working well into the C-main already...
