Dale,

Parisano, Marabella, McMinn and I all take our stuff on the plane. We fly Southwest out of Philly because they allow 2 bags for free. We take our cars, radio and batteries in a carry-on and the rest goes underneath. Try to share as much as you can with Dan....no need for two big power-supplies etc. Remember that you can buy chemicals there so we leave the traction compound motor spray etc at home. We rent a big car or van when we are there to transport us and our stuff from the airport to the Hotel.
Hah!! You should have seen them setup their pit. It was like the "Mary Poppins Crew", just kept pulling crap from their bags...

Good thing they didn't travel with Behler, otherwise their tires would have come pre-skid-marked.

What time do you guys think racing will get done on Sunday? I don't remember what time it got done when I was there in 07. Just wondering if I can save some money and head home on a 6:25pm flight.

I can't work it out either so I figure that I'll get one nights sleep, I for sure do not want to miss a race so I'll go one day later and come back a day later.

See me at Greeneville.

Hello racers! We are counting down the days and the carpet racing season is here and upon us! This looks like one of the best year's to date with racing action happening all over the place this year.

OCTOBER 5TH MAJOR RACE NEWS: RCRacing.tv announces today they will be coming from overseas to cover all the exciting action of the 2010 Snowbird Nationals (road and oval). We are very excited to have Nick and his team providing wonderful coverage of the 'birds this year! Make sure to watch RCRacing.tv racing shows on-line now - they are awesome and very entertaining: http://rcracing.tv/ (http://rcracing.tv/)

The 2010 Speed Week schedule is up and we will have the 2010 classes up this week it looks like. We trimmed them down to 8 and 8... not bad! Hoping for bigger car counts of course is the goal. Of course not everything could be added to the lineup as we would have 20 classes or more, so we just hope there is something for everyone. Roar and Tour are both supported, so more than likely what you are racing now, you can race at the 'birds!!! Make sure to check on our race site daily as I try and update it everyday.

And if you have any questions at all please email me: rcthunder@aol.com

You still got one of those?
I know I still use my LAVA Lamp for a Night Light.
It reflects off the Disco Ball.
Add the Black light and Frank Zapp poster and I'm home again.

17.5 1C is not really a "national" level class. It is for the new guys/budget guys to get track time. I am thinking the only reason you are seeing it at the Oval Masters is to showcase the TOUR classes at the first big race of the season. Although I would have rather seen that than the 21.5 truck class, but you can't have every class.

Cool to see a 12th scale class on there though!! And SK's with 13.5 and 1C. IMO that is the perfect setup for those

Usually they do not have sportsman style classes at national events. But if you were to pick a class, the slowest ones will be 13.5 COT, or 13.5 SK's

Tommy Boy

The 13.5 class runs like the old stock class. At Greeneville (Snowbirds type track) they ran about the same as 4 cell stock the last time we ran it a couple years ago. It'll probably pick up as the guys figure it out more, but it was pretty close.

Joel, didn't they kinda have that last year with the Trinity truck class? I'm kinda bummed about it too. The point was to give new racers an entry point into the hobby and if you don't showcase it on a national level then it wont be run on the local level.

If I want to go to the snowbirds and I'm new then 13.5 would be the class I'm going to have to practice with so I'm ready.

Personally I don't understand why there are 2 21.5 / 2 cell classes (stock car and truck) Should at least make one of them more of a cost controlled class.

Bill, 21.5 truck is a local class down here in sunny east coast of fla. Sort of a 21.5 sportsman class, our 21.5 cars died out. I guess mike is courting the florida sportman guys. Intersting it is open 2 cell battery though. I can't even give away my 3200 2 cells down here.

Ron, I figured that its about trying to help get the most racers there and don't have a problem with it. I'll be racing 13.5 and 10.5. On a local level I'm trying to do everything that I can to get new racers into the hobby and it is really difficult to start a beginners class.

The heart beat of TOUR is to unify oval racing (at least carpet for now) and try to build it by getting new racers involved and that's the reasoning behind a 17.5 class in the first place. I just think that if you're going to do that you should try to showcase it a little more.

Ovalmasters is doing that... If none of the other high profile races do then I predict that 17.5 sportsman wont even get off the ground as an entry class. Most tracks will have the COT class as their entry and then the low cost factor will be gone.

Enough said... looks like it will be a great event.

Morning racers. Just a few notes. First off, I am very excited to support the TOUR and have their championship classes as part of the Snowbirds!!! I had a LOT of emails asking to run 21.5 car (from around the whole USA) so definitely want to offer it this year. The trucks are a good class in Florida and some other parts, and we had 3 cool truck classes last year, so had to have one again for sure! The reason to going open LiPo is that there are so many batteries out there that need a place to race I figured give them a class to run them. I talked to a few locals they are cool with opening it up (plus some race touring etc and it allows the same stuff). I am very excited to have 12th scale and SK being part of the show again they are such great fun and provide great racing. We have a little bit of everything it seems. I thought hard about the 17.5 1S class but was worried since we don't have any down here yet it would be a very light crowd is all. Hope there is something for everyone... so far things are progressing amazing. Thanks everyone and looking forward to year 16!!!
