Ok this is a weird one. I bought a new 23 hp B&S Vanguard to replace the B43G Onan in my 318, I bought it from the small engine warehouse and was told it was a drop in replacement for that mower. I hooked it up as per the instructions but it didnt start. I hooked it up using both the solinoid in the tractor and the one that came with the new motor, and neither of them worked.
Ive checked all the safety switches but nothing works, it just wont send 12 v to the starter. Ive bought a new briggs keyswitch and harness, but dont know how to hook the clutch up to the switch. Does anyone know how to hook it up throught the switch? or does anyone have a wiring diagram for an 85' john deere 318? Any help would be appreciated. Dutch.

I'm not certain, but I believe there's a guy who will send you a pdf of the wiring diagram on Yesterday's Tractors. Just try putting in Yesterday's Tractor 318 wiring diagram in a google search. The fellah's name is Steve in in. It looks like you can reply to his post and ask him to send you a pdf. Good luck.
