Xence and I have been talking and racing together for about 1 1/2 years now. We both really like these tires. They are the best tires I have for my Tomy track and they perform very well on his MaxTrax. They stay on the rims securely without adhesive. They are quiet. And they handle very good.

I have about 6 or 8 cars that have this kind of tire on them, and I don't think I bought the tires, but I do want to buy some more.

So, my question is, what kind of tires are these?

Here are some pictures:

With the flat squared off back side and rounded off front side they look to be Super Tires. Or maybe even PVH tires ( Penn Valley Hobbies ).

Lookin' like PVT's.... Mic.

As you described...I find that they work excellent, even when they are all schmootzed up. They are eerily quiet and smooth running. The outer side wall is nicely molded and properly rounded. Personally I remove the sharp back edge with some 220 and then carefully scotchbrite the footprint to see if I need to true up the contact patch with 220 as well. I try and round them off to resemble the front roll. Removing that back edge makes your car a little less twitchy and forgiving when you get loose or start to slide out...IMHO of course. Seldomly are they all gacked up with flash if they ever even have any and duds or dawgs are rarely seen.

TJD 241 AKA "Nuther Dave" turned me on to PVT's a coupla years back and I refuse to use anything but them in the way of a slip on. Admittedly they have some fitment problems with their tjet tire and their AFX front. Ironically the t-jet tire fits the AFX front rather well, but should be checked after it's stretched on. I stretch them onto my truing mandrel (known good old hub and axle) and feel for true. Note: The lil buggers have to be glued to their intended standard t-jet rim for any hope of retention, but do fit the wider MEV t-jet style rim nicely.

Their Tuff ones rear is interesting as well. As Swamper Gene pointed out some time back PVT's have remarkable "stretch-ability". Their Tuffy rear sucks down onto an AFX rim really tight but pulls the side walls in a bit for fender wells with fitment issues where a standard PVT AFX rear wont do. A narrowing effect if you will.

I use the Extra Tall Extra Wide "ETEW" (I think) all the time for open wheeled rods and rats. Both their Dragster tire and Specialty tire are awesome...to the point that I again refuse to use anything but. It's the first/best step to straightening out a four gear's behavioral disorders.

Hi:

From my point of view the look like Tom Hiester tires for the AFX. Two types, I would suggest they are the Aurora G+/Tyco/Lifelike as the look low profile. The AFX and Magna-Traction are the larger of the two. I race the smaller type and from what you posted, it might be them.

It's hard for me to tell but I was looking at some of my PVT tires,
and the ones I have are not quite that rounded on the outside edge.

Thanks for all your input.

My original plan was to buy a couple pair of a bunch of different types and see if I get them, or something else I really like, but I figured I woulsd ask here first. You guys made me aware of some I didn't know about.

I love the feel of Weidr Jack's, but I am getting tired of having to glue them on with silicone adhesive, only to have to reglue them everytime I want to run a car.

I guess I will start ordering some tires.

I wish sellers would post pictures of the tires they are selling.

When I first got back into slot cars I bought a bunch of tires from Tom Heister's site, so mabe they are Supertires or the other ones he sells. I'll probably start there.
