This all started when I decided to put a new battery on my rider ( Murray), After I installed it correctly I started the mower & it ran but it would not shut off even after I got off the seat activating the kill switch, shortly thereafter it shut off on it's own. From that point on I have not been able to start it, noticing that I had no spark I replaced the magneto with proper gapping but still no spark, I also replaced the ignition switch,I replaced the ignition switch before I did the magneto. I noticed the flywheel was a little rusty do I shined it up with a Dremel & wire wheel & the magnet seems plenty strong. Where do I go from here????? The engine is only 4 years old, it's a 12 HP, I also replaced the spark plug. Any help is great appreciated.

Do you still have no spark? Does it turn over at all? Check the battery ground wire where it is grounded to the frame. Make sure it has a good clean contact, metal to metal no corrosion.

The machine turns over ,no problem, but no spark, I noticed my flywheel was a little rusty so I wirewheeled it with my Dremel while still in place, I'm wondering why mower wouldn't shut off before all this began & I'm baffled!

It seems that there may be a problem with the magneto grounding. If the engine wouldn't shut off at first a wire may have become detached, and then later as it was running fell on some metal part of the tractor grounding the magneto. I would trace the magneto grounding wire through all the safety switches to see if one of the wires has come loose.
Good luck

Disconnect the kill wire from the magneto, if it has spark with the kill wire completely off, then you know one of your safety switches is stuck, or its shorting somewhere else.

Many thanks, your input was right on the money! The mower is now running like a top, it was one of the Kill switches. :)

Your input helped me considerably! It was one of the Kill switches & the mower is now running like new. Thanks for the input!
