This little red Viper GTS appeals to me for a number of reasons. It was a fun build, it has more details than I expected (a spare wheel and tire), the quality is quite good, and the fit, finish and stance look just fine. The hood opens, the V-10 engine detail is pretty good and the dash's instrumentation is depicted by two water-slide decals. Also on the decal sheet were the license plate and the white racing stripes. The two bucket seats have molded-in seat belts with molded-in hardware. The front and rear light lenses are clear plastic that I colored appropriately. The wheels include discs with calipers which I colored silver and red.
In the picture shoot, you can see I failed to secure the hood fully. In addition, the kit instruction suggested painting the wheels silver. I chose to leave them black to make the model look more aggressive.
The model was included in the Estes Great Garage kit in 1/43 scale. There was no indication of who manufactured this particular diecast on the chassis, so I cannot praise the brand by name unfortunately.
The last picture shows a black Testors Viper, which has no opening panels, along with the Estes red Viper GTS model.
Thanks for looking....
