I'm sure this was addressed at some point in the buildup to release, but could someone clue me in as to how the "box scale" of 1/128 was chosen for the Seaview?

just off hand, but I'm betting it was a production issue.

what it is the biggest piece of plastic we can produce cost effectively?

take four of those to make the hull and then figure out what the scale would work out to be.

something like that, but I'm probably wrong

It's still a workable scale. Even though there are not a lot of in-scale kits out there.

1/128 translates to 3/32"=1' for scale measurement at that size.

They wanted to make the biggest Seaview they could. It does make it difficult to find other subjects to sit it next to but I am very happy with the size.

The original plan was to produce a Seview as near to 3 ft as possible... 1/128 works out to roughly 39 inches - that's why it's 1/128
This subject has been discussed to death in at least one other thread..at the time that the kit was first released.... so I think that I'm going to dig around in my drawer and see if I can find my Moderator hat and keys so I can lock this thread..

I think that the question has been answered. I know that the subject has been discussed in depth already so I'm going to close this thread.
