Murray rider 10hp, model# 30560D 95098-069750. The owner has replaced the battery 3 times, as the battery keeps draining. Would this be due to a bad solinoid.

View Full Version : Batteries keep draining Rentahusband 06-25-2009, 06:06 PM Murray rider 10hp, model# 30560D 95098-069750. The owner has replaced the battery 3 times, as the battery keeps draining. Would this be due to a bad solinoid. Dean justin3 06-25-2009, 07:03 PM This could be caused by the charging system not working, or the starter is drawing too many amps, therefor killing the battery. 30yearTech 06-27-2009, 05:41 PM I doubt that the solenoid would be the cause. You can trace down an electrical draw with a multimeter or circuit tester light, by simply connecting it between the battery and the battery cable, this will tell you if something is drawing power when the unit is off. Rentahusband 06-29-2009, 05:34 AM Charged the batt, used multimeter had 13v to the switch but nothing beyond the switch even with the key in the start posisition. Owner told me that it would start when jumped. He connected the groung to the frame. This indicated that the batt ground was bad. Batt ground to frame was rusty,so I cleaned contact. Fired right up.
