geogrubb 06-24-2009, 10:12 PM Loosen the nut in the bottom of the carb bowl and turn it about 1/4-1/2 turns in both directions then put it back where it was and tighten it. Have a good one. Geo

How is that going to stop the fuel from leaking out of the air filter?
It sounds like the carburetor is flooding, possibly due to a faulty float, or a bad needle seat.

geogrubb 06-25-2009, 11:03 AM I agree it is most likely a bad float, however, for a float that is ok and has been used in recent months and is stuck from just hanging there, when you turn the bowl the indented portion of the bowl will come in contact with the float and knock it loose. Have a good one. Geo

Ohhhhh, I thought you were just talking about the bowl nut, I missed the part about turning the bowl. Thanks for the clarification, now it makes sense.

I knew everyone would think I was nuts, however, check the last paragraph on left side of page 19 in Tec Manual 692509. Have a good one. Geo

Float sticking can occur due to deposits or when the fuel
tank is filled for the first time, this condition can be quickly
corrected by loosening the carburetor bowl nut one full
turn. Turn the bowl 1/4 turn in either direction, then return
the bowl to its original position and tighten the bowl nut.
What a difference one missing little word can make in someones interpretation. :)
I thought you meant to just turn the bowl nut back and forth and then tighten. Until you told me about turning the bowl, I did think you were nuts... at least bowl nuts...
geogrubb 06-25-2009, 07:26 PM I'm old, my mind and hands don't work together anymore, "bowl" was in the instructions when I told my hands to type it and it was still there when my mind read it back to me(lol). On another post, I had someone removing the thimble screen on the plastic B&S carb with a screwdriver, for the lack of a comma. Oh to be young again, where the fun was in breaking things rather than fixing them. Have a good one. Geo
nabs32909 06-26-2009, 02:52 PM Thanks I will try that and let you all know Once again thanks
nabs32909 06-29-2009, 12:51 PM I am sorry It did not stop the gas from leaking I even put in anew gasket .I starts right up and will run aslong as I push the bulb now and then and when I stop the engine, the gas leaks runs out of the air filter. Should I rebuild the Carb???? or what could be sticking
its a LEV 120 361126d
Thanks
geogrubb 06-29-2009, 04:13 PM It is probably a bad float, clamp off the fuel line, remove the bowl, release the clamped line, now as the fuel drips lift the float to see if it shuts off the fuel flow with minimal pressure, if it does then most likely the float is leaking and does not raise to shut off the fuel, if the fuel low does not stop or takes some pressure then the seat or needle is bad, reclamp the fuel line. Depends on what the engine is attached to as to whether you can remove the float without removing the carb, if so remove the float and shake it and listen for a shoshing or set it in a bowl of water to see if it sinks, otherwise it will be necessary to remove the carb and you might as well clean all the holes, cracks and crevases. Have a good one. Geo
