So I was Czech'n Christian Falkenstieners site for variations I don't have and noticed a bronze thin wheeled GT 40. Never seen one - are they htf???
And what about the availability of the other sf GT 40's?
The only one I have is the white one, and it's been well used.
It was my first SF and I believe I abtained it late in 1969.
I ordered it from the back of a cereal box offer. The picture showed a reg whl version, but what I got was this Superfast. My older brothers and I had never seen a Superfast. We were not impressed. We thought the wheels somehow cheapened the car and and sacrificed accuracy.
BUT...when I got that sucker out on the hardwood floor, the way it rolled was smoother and straighter...and FASTER than any Hotweels or anything else!
I'll hafta post a pic of this battle weary trooper soon!
Anyone have any?????

I have a friend who has a yellow one with blue stripes. I dont think it is a super-fast though. I will have to try and get some pics from him. Hi mother used to work at a place in New York where the cars were boxed during the 60's. He has some really neat stuff.

The yellow one is vhtf and always fetches very good money on ebay -it was only a gift set release.96gsfan please do share any pix that you can get of these cars from the US blister factory - odd that Lesney found a big financial advantage shipping cars over loose in bulk and then putting them in blisters in the US- however the earliest production of many new models were normally sent to the US as Lesney´s most profitable market so short run transitional superfasts like red SF 67VW, brown 25 Cortina GT and blue 12 LandRover Safari were put into blisters with boxes at that factory amongst other very desirable and rare castings.
The only uncommon white ones are the wide wheel ones ,all of which were Japanese or late 1970s twin pack releases. Bronze ones with thin wheels are much less common than wide wheels issues, but they are still not so hard to find, although I only have one playworn thin wheeled bronze.
Nice brush work on the blue hood stripe Dave:thumbsup:

Will do. I hopefully will be seeing him soon and I will make sure I take my camera with me. He had a case or 2 of loose ones his mother gave to him when he was small. Most are in excellent condition.

I dont know how old your friend is, but if the cars come from the late 1970s there are some rare ones to look out for like the twin pack specials - white VW Beetle with WIDE wheels, white Ford GT40 with WIDE wheels, yellow Toe Joe with black stickers, orange racing Mini with stickers that do not include no 29,blue Meredes truck & trailer, white with black roof Field Car

I will try and get pictures of everything he has so you guys can critique them for him.

He is 51 if I remember correctly. I did take some digitals before but lost them when my old computer crashed. I may be able to see him on saturday.
I will keep you posted.

Here are the pics of my buddy Carlos' Matchbox cars. As I said earlier his mother brought these to him. She worked at the location where they were being packaged at the time.

Carlos comes here from time to time and maybe he can give you more info if he does.

What a fine collection, thankyou for sharing :hat:

Some very fine desirable cars here and some rare gems that most of us here do not yet own. These cars are mostly from 1968-1971 which is exactly when I was first buying diecast so seeing these is the ultimate Lesney joy for me!
Hopefully Carlos will enjoy these even more knowing some are rare and that if he in future he ever needs some extra money these cars can help him out.
The rarest trio and worth $150+ each on ebay europe are the yellow Ford GT, the SUPERFAST blue Mercedes 300SE and the red seat tomato coloured ´65 Mustang. On a good day, the red Berlinetta (does it have silver front grille?),gold mercedes with rare opening doors and the uncommonly light purple Pontiac GP are also in the $100 class.
Rare shade variations include the lightest possible metallic blue on both Iso Grifos (sufficiently hard to find that I dont have these yet) and the Lotus Europa as well as the lightest purple almost pink VW1600TL, all worth more than standard mid shades of these colours.
Blue lamp Mercury Police cars are worth double the more common red lamp versions and if the Corsair or green Berlinetta have silver painted baseplates then they are htf variations
If the blue LandRover was Superfast ,and the gold was regular wheels then they would be the rare crossover variants, and the same goes for the brown Cortina & green MG1100 - both rare and pricey when fitted with Superfast baseplates..........
The green Zodiac that is photographed next to the firetrucks & orange bus could be a common superfast with no wheel chrome or a mega rare regular wheels green issue which is worth many hundreds of $$$

Mucho awesomeness!!! So many great ones!
And along with that dreamy blue Benz I also noticed an opening door gold Benz along with the closed door version.
I even like the Opel Diplomat with the '60's Aroura Thunderjets #7 decal from the Hop-Up Kit decal sheet.

This collection became more dear to me with my mother's passing. At my parents house back in Puerto Rico I also have a BP service station along with a collection of Cars of Yesteryear. The packaging plant was located in Carlstadt, N.J. Special thanks to my good friend 96 G.S. for the Kudos.

My father died back in 1991 at the age of 55 - I still have about 90% of my childhood toys, some in great shape and boxed, and I can still remember which were christmas or birthday or holiday gifts from my father. Our toys are a good way to keep happy childhood memories solid, and honour the memories of our parents.
Your BP station is a fantastic way to either display cars or use as a backdrop for posed photographs -thats what I still do with mine!
