Full Flaps! 12-24-2011, 01:30 PM Well then, your wish is my command. Here are some more. Next time I go back, I'll take some of the interior too. It's been at this shop a long time, but somebody must have plans for it.
I have mixed feelings about restoration. I've seen some very good looking ones, and it's hard to dislike a car that looks factory fresh. But they never have that patina of originality. I guess I could sum it up with the words "only where necessary". I Love old car smell. Like motor oil and must.

chuck_thehammer 12-24-2011, 01:47 PM cars that are in realy bad shape should be restored...but something like this Cady...fix it up so it runs good again, but do not restore it...
Lummox 12-24-2011, 03:00 PM That shop looks a little sketchy. Let's hope they won't "restore" it.
Awesome pix. Love that color. Wide whites with or without caps would look killer.
Skirts back on or left off depending on your mood. Can't go wrong. Amazing year for Cad.

scrambler81 12-31-2011, 07:01 AM Just passed this yesterday on Route 40, somewhere near Buena, NJ. Thought someone might get a kick out of it.

This would be a great building to have. Thanks for the pictures.
Full Flaps! 12-31-2011, 11:30 AM Wow, what a time warp. That Texaco station with the old country house in the back - minus the dish TV of course.

Lummox 01-22-2012, 02:27 AM I would go to Chico's Cantina for the name alone!
Up here, there ain't a whole lot of caucasians that understand food of the Latin variety.
Full Flaps! 01-22-2012, 04:22 AM The man who owns Chico's is named Jeff, one of the head cooks is Chinese, and the best wait staff they have are Czech. Somehow they make it work, because the chips are always warm, and Chico's burritos will be one of the things I'll miss the most when I leave this town. :p
STUTZ 01-26-2012, 08:03 PM Parked outside an indoor shooting range, and directlly across from a local airport.

I started a thread last year with it Full Flaps. It's still there, I drive past it several days a week. Wish I could take it for a test drive. :jest:
The thread is below.

scrambler81 01-27-2012, 06:39 AM I really gotta keep a camera in my car. I left work yesterday, and there was a tractor-trailer across the street, and they were lowering a Ferrari F-40 down on the lift gate. It was just starting to rain, too. I have no idea why they were delivering a Ferrari to the Ford-Lincoln dealer - maybe they were trading it in on an F-150. These days, it might be an even trade.
STUTZ 01-27-2012, 06:58 AM I saw this awhile back and thought it was different.
The white item in the bed is a fuel tank. The MPG isn't very good.

Full Flaps! 01-27-2012, 10:05 AM Awesome truck Stutz! Like a full size Tonka, it doesn't get more trucky than that. Would love to have one in diecast.

Next time you go by, have your camera handy. Maybe it'll be there for awhile. However, in my own experience, I notice that the coolest cars usually don't stay parked for long... It's a mystery.

What the heck are those tubes sticking out from under the fenders? I've seen a lot of big mud trucks - my brother built a huge one - but I've never seen anything like that.

They are huge. Must be a trick of the lens because it really doesn't look much longer than the Camry next to it.
Lummox 01-27-2012, 10:54 PM That '67 Lincoln in black is some sexy!
It's pulled way forward. The bumper seems to clear that low wall.
A modern car would be lower in the front and would hit it.
Just a theory.
Full Flaps! 01-28-2012, 12:53 AM Yeah, the front tires are pulled way up to the curb. The Camry is probably not as close.
STUTZ 01-31-2012, 12:25 PM This picture was taken awhile ago, and I still have it in my Photobucket album. I was at a local mall, and two guys parked this Nova a distance away from the entrance to the mall and walked to the entrance.

Just a guess, but that seems like it would have to be some homemade direct air intake... But that's totally the wrong place for a snorkel. :freak:
scrambler81 02-15-2012, 05:07 PM I was out taking a walk during my afternoon break, and found this sitting behind the building next door. A 1910 Harley-Davidson, completely restored, strapped into the back of an old Nissan pickup. The guy in the gray sweatshirt owns it, and he did all of the work himself, including the fabrication of some parts. One thing he did show me was a kind of diverter valve for the exhaust. The bike normally runs through an open header, but if the rider came up on a horse, he would use this valve to divert the exhaust through a small can muffler at the bottom of the frame, so the noise wouldn't spook the horse. He told me he has 20 old Harleys.

NYSWLHUNTER 03-16-2012, 02:47 AM Years ago I had an obsession with 1990 ford thunderbird super coupes. I started collecting them
I had an 89 SC, 2 1990 SC anniversaries. One was 5 speed the other auto. A 91 cougar and an 87 tbird which was awesome
So back then drinking and partying with loose Women and not having a job was what I was into
Sold all of my cars. Ugh. Except for my two super coupes
Oddly enough I ran into some kid fresh out of UTI that liked them. Met him at jreck subs of all places. Wierd place.
Well I tracked him down and he bought my two. That was 12 years ago
Look what I found two weeks ago....

I know it's one of the two because the rear bumper was embossed "SUPER COUPE" and the S and U and painted blue. I had started that project and never finished. I drooled on it

Can be had cheap. The heads always blow
CorvairJim 03-23-2012, 09:11 PM Here's one whose owner lives not too far from me (The Texas plate on the front is for show only - it carries a PA plate on the back). One thing to be said for it: You see those fake Buick "Ventiports" stuck onto everything nowadays - it's kind of refreshing to see a set on an actual BUICK for a change! I see this car from time to time on the local streets, but I actually had my camera with me for a change and managed to record it for posterity last year:

DCPDGUY 03-24-2012, 10:34 AM It looks like a JC Whiney catalog shopping spree. But can't knock it Ive seen worse and actually like the skirts.

No, it's not mine - I actually have GOOD taste! Here's our family of cars. From front to back, my daily driver 2006 Cobalt SS, my (former) 1966 Corvair Monza
Sport Coupe (A 220+ h.p. Mustang eater!), and my wife's 2005 Malibu Maxx:

That would work except for the fact that all of that junk is plastic. Maybe "went through PB with velcro (or a hot glue gun?)."

How 'bout a vacuum cleaner?
PWSchuh 03-25-2012, 07:53 AM Yea, that works too.
CorvairJim 03-26-2012, 12:38 AM Here's another one in the same style as the Buick, just a little less overdone. A Mitsubishi 3000GT can be a serious sports car - it doesn't need to be tarted up with all the "Ricer" garbage this guy decided to plaster his car with. THREE stick-on plastic scoops, FOUR stick-on badges, TWO non-functional lights, a pair of chromed deer whistles, and to top it off, DUAL FART CANS! This car was photographed the same day as the yellow Roadmaster, in the parking lot of a combination bank/ CVS right across the street!

CorvairJim 03-26-2012, 09:53 PM Now for something completely different, from the "Stupid Pickup Truck Tricks" file. I spotted this idiot on U.S. 30 near New Oxford, PA about two years ago:

NYSWLHUNTER 03-27-2012, 12:04 AM yup! that will fit in the mcdonalds drive thru!!
CorvairJim 03-29-2012, 12:37 AM Hre's another one from the "Stupid Pickup Truck Tricks" file: That last pickup I posted might have been loaded a bit too high, but how do you cover a load that's slightly too LONG? With a bed cap that's slightly too long, of course!
http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/bb366/CorvairJim/539-1.jpg
This shot was taken three blocks away from the first two cars I posted... Unfortunately, directly down the street I live on!
Full Flaps! 03-29-2012, 10:55 AM Ahh, the old long cap on a short bed routine, it's a classic.
And a mismatched color cab to boot, I hear that ads value.
DCPDGUY 03-29-2012, 11:16 AM Maybe the cap is off the Ranger in front of the S10? Also the rear cab mounts might be rotten. The body line is off and he's using the cap to hold it from falling?

Three-tone paint jobs were all the rage in the 1950's, but had pretty much gone out of fashion by the 80's. Surprising, since this photo clearly shows how tryly stylish they can be! :p
