I'm tryin to decide between the Ofna Late Model or the Losi L8ight Model. I see the Ofna has a solid spool in the center diff and Losi just made a Smartdiff specifically for the l8ight for the front kinda like a One Way. The Ofna also has wheel extentions So I'm kinda up in the air on this one Does anyone run either of these cars and can help me out in any way the Losi is on sale right now from A Main I own both Losi and Ofna buggys and truggys so parts are no problem and they are both pretty durable Just curious if I would have to sink more money in either to be competitive If you have any experience in 8th scale late modelz PLEAZE HELP!!!I would probably be runnin on a loose dirt oval if that helps. Thanx!!:thumbsup:

We have many Ofna Late Models at our track. They are great and not too expensive. I really like mine. Its VERY easy to work on and no one has had a problem. IMO Ofna makes products that are just as good as (if not better than) Team Losi. I think you would be satisfied with the Ofna, but I haven't had any experience with the Losi so it's a bias opinion.

Right on Man! I also like my Ofna LX-1 and X1X-CRT Very durable and yes very fast. They r both easy to work on as well I just never liked their manuals and instructions it never xplained some of the steps and details were left out Both companies have good product support. I'm currently runnin an 8t from Losi No reason just liked em but I never had a prob with my Ofna other than I had some prob findin a One Way bearing for a while Do you run yours stock? Anything about the solid center or hopups? Did you get the revised version with the body included or actually what body do you use? Any pix? Thanx 4 the help!!

I actually have the Ofna Ultra GTP 2 RTR and it came with a two speed which I swapped for a solid center and 51 tooth steel spur gear and a 13 tooth clutch bell for a small clay oval. It is (from seeing the late model version) EXACTLY the same as the late model except for body mounts. I haven't added any hop-ups nor do I plan to. I have been running it the way it was set-up except for a little camber change or whatever its called so the wheels point very slightly to the left and the shocks are adjusted for our track. I used the .28 Force that came with that for two years of racing and it finally blew up so i replaced it with a .21 Novarossi and a Dynamite pipe (i haven't been able to race with it cause two weeks of getting rained out but i cant wait). For the body, I use the RJ Speed Max Wedge from Tower Hobbies. I can take a few pics in a bit for you.

Here are some pics of my Ofna Ultra GTP2 I use as a Late Model. I did a bad job on the body but it still looks okay. This thing runs great.

thanx 4 the pix They def. helped It seems the solid center is the way to go. I have an ultra LX-1 that I'm thinkin of switchin over to some turnin left maybe new towers and some shorter shocks and a front bumper is all I'm thinkin I'll need besides the body no doubt you really can't beat the force 28 for an rtr motor I've had two of them both with no problems and plenty of power i recently bought a Extech .24 fully modded EB Mods 300$ engine and power wise not much more just mo punch Novarossi's are sweet too!I'm thinkin I'm gonna pull the .24 out of my truggy and replace it with an OS .28 xz with a JP-3 pipe for my truggy and put the .24 in my Latemodel. The closest dirt oval I've got is about an hour and a half away,so soon as the old lady gives the OK there will be one out back. I love the slidin sideways action Do you think I'll get more slide if its flat or banked Probably flat I'd guess what tires do you run I couldn't tell if they were slicks or rally style I was also thinkin of turnin a DM-1 spec into a Latemodel with the laid down shocks and the pivot ball suspension it would handle like a dream but then again I'd still have to modify that as well takin the two speed out and stuff But I guess I don't want it to stick I want it loose that much more fun No clay here just loose dirt One thing i noticed with you're latemodel body is if you use a dremel or something to that sort around you're wheel well and round them out the body will last longer and won't crack as easy any squared off spots for that matter round them out and they are less likely to crack or break Trust me found this out the hard way I round all the corners off on all my bodies now and haven't had any cracks Just tryin too help you I thank you for you're help keep in touch I'll get something done here and send you some pix when finished you're pix helped me Thanx!!!:thumbsup:

Our track is slightly banked and we really get a lot of sliding around the corners (in a good way). My friend, who races actual cars at a local dirt track, decided to make one in his yard also. Its only about 10mins away which is nice. It does take a lot of work with the clay. I have the Losi Buggy On-road tires which work great on our track (http://www.rcsuperstore.com/product_p/losa17759.htm). And for 150 bucks, the motor is going to last a while and i wont have to worry about running out of gas or it killing, like many other motors, especially ones at our track. It seemed like it had quite a bit of balls and running at 200-210 i was getting 10min of run-time. i need to finish breaking it in and get it running around 250 so it can only get better :)
As far as the body goes, lol, I tried getting the round wheel wells and i totally muffed it up with some scissors. So, i tried the dremel. Bad idea, it was too late. So i just went the easy way and cut squares, which i knew isn't good for cracking, but i had to deal with what i had already screwed up. I suppose i could go back and smooth the points so its not sharp.... I hope to get some race videos one of these weeks.
What do you think of the track? Although we are all pretty good friends, we do take it fairly serious. The inside looks like crap, but who cares. lol The actual track is really nice and very fun. We use a transponder system as you can see in the pic. One pic has practicing late models and the other we race 1/10 stadium trucks with aluminum bodies made from the thin metal used on a race car.

Right on Man! Love the Tri-Oval idea! The bank turns look pretty sweet as well. Do you back the banking of the turns with anything?Or is it just packed down real good.I wasn't sure if I could pack it up high enuff or would have to support it somehow. What kinda transponder system do you use? I know the AMB system is real expensive someone said like ten grand Holy Shit if thats the case its no wonder there aren't more tracks! I have heard of some less expensive systems like the one in the Rc Car action buyers guide this year somethin like 5-6 hundred Just to run a couple of mine and my buddies cars would be all I need no Ten Grand system thats just Insane!!!!I forget who makes it maybe Racers Edge I'm gonna have to check somethin out.If you get a chance or if its even possible do you have any videos. The track in the pix ,is that the track you race at or is it the one your buddy did up in the back yard? Thats pretty cool about the aluminium bodies never thought about using that, beating and banging is prob pretty cool! Did you buy that engine used or just get a great deal?Never heard of a Nova at that price! My buddies say Ebay is the way to go but I don't have a paypal account and any other payment I wouldn't trust. I think you have to have a checking account which I don't have so I get alot of my stuff through A-Main never really looked at Tower Hobbies I'll have to check them out!!Well anyways keep the pix and help coming if I can figure out how to post pix I'll throw some of my stuff at ya! I race just offroad truggy right now but Ive also got a buggy another truggy a nitro Rustler and a micro desert truck The Nitro Rusty I'm gonna make into a sprint car and the buggy a Latemodel the micro desert truck is already made into a latemodel with a BRP body Just workin on the old lady to let me dump a pile of dirt for the eighth scale oval action!!Later:thumbsup:

That is the track my friend made and the one we race at. He does his own fabrications and is big into racing so he knows what he is doing. It was inteded to resemble the local dirt track. We plow the track with a four-wheeler, drag it, and pack it down really good with a bigger lawn mower. He also waters it as necessary. A guy that used to own a hobby shop near us, and who races with us, had the transponder system laying around. He is good friends with us so he sold it to the track for cheap. Unless your lucky or know the right people, you won't find that good of a deal:). I'll try to get a video of this weekend racing
