Greetings!

After leaving the marketplace a decade ago, the Taurus SHO is making a comeback. The new generation SHO adds onto the impressive design of the 2010 Taurus. This model sports a unique grille, sculpted fenders, new hood design, and new front fascia design.

GreenLight is bringing you a first look at our 1:64 Scale 2010 Taurus SHO.

Unfortunately for us - These are a promo for Ford. Not sure how we will be able to acquire one :(

Maybe - test drive, contest giveaway,etc ????

I am sure the car in the pic is unfinished (at least I hope it is not finished) but am I the only one who does not care for this one?

Just another look-alike in the long list of look-alikes.

Please, no hate mail, lol ;-) Just my opinion.

This is one of those that 36 people who have SHO's will buy. Other than that, it will probably be a pegwarmer. Not my cup of tea. Now where is my 1976 Trans am?

It's not finished. That's what all the GL pre-pros look like. Ford contacted them specifically to have it made. I'm just trying to figure out how to get one when they do get here.

Some things to notice that are different from the typical GL. No opening hood, but it does have jeweled lights.

Great job GL!

Thanks for sharing the pre-pro pics GL, it's fun to catch a glimps of the new castings early. Like several others, the 1:1 has no apeall to me, and thus the scale version likewise. But the job you guys have done on those wheels are AMAZING!

I love how people seem to get on here and complain about the car and the design of the car... like it was GreenLight who designed the Taurus. If you don't like the look of the car then don't buy it, fact of the matter is that it seems as though GreenLight didn't make this casting for "you" anyways, made it for Ford according to Harristotle, so my guess is that they don't really care if you like the car or not, they were just posting the photos of a new casting trying to help us collectors out by letting us see the product before it is even out. So, maybe quit your crying and just thank them for doing it at all.

Thanks, GL for showing us the sample here before it is even out, did a great job as always!

Looks like a Camry........ not sure the draw for this in die cast; seems there would be some others that would proceed it........Raptor, Iaccocca Mustang, etc.... IMHO.

Back in the day of the original Taurus SHO (some would say "real" because the new one is essentially an upscale trim/engine option and not a performance car with a manual transmission) Ford also commissioned a "promo". That one was done in 1:25 scale plastic by AMT/Ertl and it is a desirable collectible today.

I think this is people just giving their honest opinions. Never heard a single cry. It's my understanding that greenlight values our opinions good or bad. If we all just nod and say "Thanks Greenlight! Great Casting!" Then we will just be assisting them down the path of self destruction. They need to know what we the collectors like and don't like. If we say we don't like something or it looks like garbage, I don't think Greenlight is going to start crying and say "I'm not sharing pics of new castings with those meanies every again!" They need to know that the majority of diecast collectors probably won't give a crap about cars like a new Taurus SHO.(even if this wasn't their idea and ford did come to them. Its a form of market research) So keep your opinions coming boys, unless greenlight tells you otherwise.

My sentiments exactly. No one was crying here CROZ. We are just expressing our opinion which is allowed. If you like it cool. Just dont hate because we are not like you.

Yes the engine was a Yamaha. It was initially intended for a 2 seater Ford that was being built, but it was cancelled and the engines were used up in the SHO instead.

I find out new things everyday about cars I thought I knew well like the 65 Mustangs built with retractable hardtops (just 12 specials) so I like to check out things that are new to me. The original SHO had a standard Taurus engine with heads supplied by Yamaha.

Why does a car have to have a manual trans to be a performance car? The new SHO with all the upgrades and paddle shifters will do quite well in any comparison with comparable cars with a stick.

The plastic promos of the 89 are going for $25.00 any day.

Cool...is their going to be a regular issue of this item? I'd like to have a diecast SHO...the new Taurus is a pretty sweet car, but I like the MKS more.

Galaxieman - Sure, automatics can be OK and paddles can be OK but 'cmon, do you really want an auto/paddle in a performance car? The original SHO had a manual. The cool T-Bird turbo coupe had a manual. A manual adds to the fun of using the engine - especially when downshifting for turns or a road course; automatics are for sissies and girls. - ranchero -

Problem is, so few people-esp. in the US--buy manuals anymore, so most cars (95% or more in the US) are automatics...and clutchless manuals have become common in many performance cars, with paddle shifters, they can shift much faster than a regular manual. I love manuals, but the market for them is dwindling away..

I am afraid you are so right. remember when you paid big money to "upgrade" to an auto, now just the other way around! I agree, I don't think a performance car has to be a manual, but it does make it so much more fun !

Yeah, I enjoy a manual..had a few over the years... 2 of my Mustangs have been manuals, though my '69 is an automatic. My M3 was a manual, my Broncos were manuals, but my Jeep and Benz are automatics.

I like the casting. There is a spot for it in my collection. There way crappier casting choices out there that people are buying so I don't see this one as any worse. The wheel design is well executed!

wow...what boggles my mind the most, is that is really not a popular choice to make a casting of. I'd much rather see a 70's b-body Monaco cruiser.

I don't know what to do with my left foot when I drive an automatic.

I think that is a well done model of a car that is going to be very important for Ford.

The color is excellent and I believe that is a shade that Ford is featuring for the introduction of the new Taurus and the Lincoln sibling. I'd like one of those metallic red Taurus models; I will look for one when they are released.

And no, I am not saying F1 drivers are sissies. I am saying that sissies & girls drive automatics by choice.

As a very happy owner of a 2006 Five Hundred, I was pretty excited to hear Ford was going to roll out an SHO version. (I had a hard time when Ford decided to rebadge the Five Hundred as a Taurus. The original Taurus and the Five Hundred are totally different cars. There's a marketing ploy for ya!) Anyway, I'm looking forward to adding this new casting to my collection for obvious reasons.:)

'sissies' sounds like a term from around 1960. Does anyone use that term anymore? Anyway, automatics are mainstream, and there are plenty of great performers w/ them, and lots of normal cars, trucks, etc w/ them.

Looks like a very good casting of a lousy car. Sorry, I never liked Tauruses from the very first one in 1986, they were all the way through the 80's and 90's and still are, pretty ugly cars. A G8 would make a far more interesting casting.

I was able to view the 1:1 at a car show this month. the real car is impressive looking in person. Much larger than I thought it would be and very masculine looking. I imagine it will appeal to those in the market for a larger car.

The wheels on the Greenlight version look killer! I think its a nice addition for the Ford enthusiasts.
