Does anyone make a CVD kit for the Losi MF2? The only ones I've found (and mistakenly ordered) are for the original MF and XXX-T. I've seen that the old MIP Shiny CVDs are a bit shorter than the more recent C-CVD kit. Has anyone tried these on an MF2?

Do you need the whole CVD or just a rebuild kit?

The whole CVD.

If you are desperate (and skilled) you can make any length CVD bone you want. Since the MF2 bones are shorter than the original XXX-T bones, you can shorten the ones you've got.

Here's a pic of such a modification done on a B3 CVD bone to lengthen it:

Lest you question the durability of this mod, note how much the drive pin has worn the end of the bone, and the extension part shows no sign of fatigue. Someone on DODC saw this pic and did this mod on bones for a nitro sprinter with no durability issues.

Here is a link to the manual that has the parts listed. All of the parts are available.

Well, according to that manual and the visuals, it doesn't look like this truck came with CVDs. Just the GENII dogbone and yoke assembly which was what I have on mine.

You know, it would be nice if MIP had an actual email contact address or a phone number where I could reach them here in regards to this instead of having to dial internationally.

Yeah, that's what I'm looking for. According to the description, these were made by Losi then? It also mentions 'Worlds Edition' which I've seen on some of the Losi's being sold in the swap section. Was this a version that was made for racers across the pond? Might be worth checking out some distros over there to see if someone else has them in stock.

And what is that?

Well, someone sent me an email and said they had an extra set of CVDs that would work with an MF2. I asked them who made them and if they could measure them and send me a few photos. Still waiting for a reply.

why would you want to run cvds just curious

Less maintenance. Those plastic yokes on the ends of the stock dogbones don't last too long from what I've heard and seen.

I've been running my stock u-joints for 3 years with no maintenance.

You've never had to replace anything on those? I've seen an example of where one of those plastic yokes was totally stripped out. The ones I had on mine before I replaced them were in pretty bad shape, too. I just figured it would be better to have CVDs instead of these giving out at some point (which with my luck would be in the middle of a race).

I think how much life you get out of the plastic yokes can depend a lot on what motor you are running. I could see them lasting 3 years with a 17.5 (or 13.5). But for low turn brushed or brushless I think the life would be less. I know I've had some of those plastic yokes fail in an XX-4 running 14T brushed motor.

I should be good for now then since I'm only running a 17.5. I'll still probably pick those ones up when and if that guy gets back to me.
