This "TOUR" package will finally place Oval-Racing, as a unified national effort, at the
doorstep of what will be profound growth, and success, for many years to come.

Bravo, Mike, Chuck, Mike & Mike, on a task, VERY WELL set forth.

What do you have in mind for Manufacturers? Novak has always been willing to help out with products developed for Oval and one cell racing, along with product and sponsorship support for many of the oval events.

I have been interested in following some of the earlier organizing threads (and this new forum section) and the level of enthusiasm for oval racing in general is impressive. Just keep us in the loop. The earlier you involve us in your plans, the more likely it will be that we can offer help.

This has been a very economically challenging year for this industry, so promotion dollars are in short supply. We have to make tough decisions, every day, about what we can offer in support of racing. Since we are involved in many different areas of R/C racing and events, we can become spread a bit thin.

I think the most exciting part of the TOUR is the drive to be 'united'. Whether we agree on everything, or just some of the things, we can all be a part of the same package - and that make's perfect sense.

Thanks to everyone for their support.

Barry,
It is so important that big manufacturers like yourself, who have a history of supporting oval racing, show your support for this effort. I can't thank you enough for stepping up and giving everyone who races for you and races with you, the confidence in knowing that you are behind this effort. You are a true leader in the effort to grow oval racing.

Mike,
You hit the nail right on the head!! "United" finally we are united as a group of racers. The SNOWBIRDS is the biggest race of the year, and to know, in June, the direction the SNOWBIRDS will take in its classes offerings is unprecendeted!! The momentum this will create could result in the BIGGEST SNOWBIRDS EVER!! Count me in, I am making my resevartions now!!
Your support, both in the grassroots work to put this together, plus supporting the TOUR with your race, is something that I cannot thank you enough for.

GREAT STUFF GUYS!!

NovakTwo,

I appreciate your support, the the support from Novak, regarding the TOUR. You raised a very interesting point in your post and it gives me a good opportunity to address this issue:

What does the TOUR need from R/C Manufacturers as far as $$$$ support??

ANSWER: $0.00

That's the beauty of the structure we put together. We are an organizational team, not a sanctioning body. We do not collect dues or have memberships. Our expenses are nothing more than our time and our revenue is zero.

All I ask is that manufacturers see the need for a unified approach to oval racing and pledge their support and encouragement. The more momentum and less decent, the quicker we can re-grow this segment of the hobby.

Just keep supporting our major race events as your have done in the past, and helping the race promotors with their events. Thanks again, Steve, for all of your time on the phone and info. Take care.

heres a great thread! i hope to see it grow also. yah know if ProtoForm could do a deal on bodies to get us all started and if Jaco could do a deal on tires for the 17.5 class then that would be a sweet way to start these classes off with a bang! either way i think once the ball gets rolling its gonna be a better year for oval!

just my 2 cents :)

Great job guys, this looks to be a good well rounded balance of speed and classes. Their should be something here for everyone on every level. Should be an exciting carpet season coming up as we feel it out. Thanks to all those involved for the effort in putting this together.

Great job on the TOUR rules package, I think it will help out oval racing a great deal.

I know that this package is primarily for carpet racing, but I hope that cap tire folks can and will get on board with TOUR. I can certainly see the 90's coming back into a lot of what TOUR is built around. Those were the days when oval was KING!

I think with TOUR, we can get back to that status and then some. I am looking forward to it.

Just a quick note to thank Steve and the crew for grinding forward with this new plan. Oval needs some standardization to grow nationally and while I am not in 100% agreement with all the rules and specifications outlined, overall this is a great start that Calandra Racing Concepts supports.

Now… what about 1:12th oval? Still great fun and popular at tracks with size limitations.

Good luck and keep up the hard work,
Frank

I've been through all the ups and downs, so it's great to see a new direction that will help bring the racers together and grow the hobby. Thanks for all your effort and for including McAllister Racing in your plans. It's onward and upward!

i think it is up to us as racers to get all the tracks that we can to go with all the rules that we can. i dont think it would be good for 1 track in any region to be the only one not to adopt these rules. we need to stress that we need to look ahead.
if any of you out there feel that you may not have the pull with the track you race at talk with your friends if you have them:rolleyes:

do any of us loe every rule in this package? probably not. but we will NEVER agree on everything.

FWIW HobbyTalk endorses TOUR. Over the years I've sat here and watched oval racing become more and more fractured way before brushless and LiPo came on the scene. Oval finally has a chance to unite and become a cohesive group again.... it's now in the racers lap if they want this or to continue to be fractured.

I am behind TOUR 99.9%. Allan, Steve and the others are trying to bring oval back. Offten we racers have our own agenda and and it is that or nothing else. The last .1% is....There are things that need to be worked out, but most seem minnor. I also do not know how the rules will apply to Cap tire racing on big tracks. May need some 2 cell lipo classes. 13.5/1cell should be great on carpet, but may be slow on some large tracks and then there is the cot small wing on a cap tire car. But we have to start some where and this looks good to me. We will all race under the same set of rules for TOUR events.

Very good posts the dodc deal saved electric racing and is bringing it back especially here in PA. The sooner everyone adopts the same rules the sooner car counts will go up in other areas. The pan car guys are waking up with the introduction of the new TOUR rules. I

Your welcome!! Looks like three tracks in Pa with Tour rules. The Strand, Marshalls and Horsham this is what will bring this type of racing back. We went throught the same thing last year in dirt i was in agreement with the motor battery rules and not some of the sprint rules but its working and there are still people who will never agree that it is but the numbers speak for themselves. When you can go to any track with your equipment and know your legal you dont mind spending the money on the spec equipment plus it gives eveyone time to work on there chassis which equals better racing. And when you get beat its because the guy can drive and knows how to set up his car not because he just spent $400 on batteries, motors, brushes and a week dynoing motors and cutting coms and brushes.

How about a three track point series here in PA??? If we can get Kranzels we can make it four. The PA State Capet Oval Tour!!!
