I am so happy that Team Associated has a new oval car out, I got to run mine for the first time at Hot Rod Hobbies.
I did not do to bad with it...still working on the setup but should have if figured out in the next couple of races.
http://67.199.85.166/ae/10r5o/10r5o_home.php
Has anyone else gotten a chance to run one?
katf1sh 06-16-2009, 11:19 PM didn't realize we needed two 10r5 threads..car must be realy good?
swtour 06-17-2009, 08:17 PM Wow KAT - if it was something you were pushing...there would be a DOZEN of them...
Besides - find me another 10R5 Oval thread! I see one that mentions a 10L5 -- which is incorrect (and we KNOW how accurate you like to make sure things are!!)
Can't have anyone getting beat up because the thread is titled wrong!!
...DONN - too bad you won't make the trip to LINDSAY (It's only 3 hours +/- for you!!! HITCH a RIDE and run the RUG!)
Does anyone know if the new 10R5 OVAL car has the servo mount holes pre drilled on the chassis, if so for what size servo?
98Ron 06-25-2009, 09:09 AM BA check out the link
http://aedownloads.com/downloads/drawings/drawing_rc10r5o.pdf
chassis appears to have slotted hole for the servo mounting. Does not anwser your question directly but perhaps gives you some guidance.
jblackburn 06-25-2009, 03:54 PM How hard is the bumper on the new car? Does it compare to the custom works or bsr bumpers?
Anyone know how those side shocks are? They look dope!
I don't know what 'dope" means :freak:
My question about the side shocks is, do they use the same length and diameter springs that are currently avaiable for side shocks??
Anyone know how those side shocks are? They look dope!
DOUGHBOY 06-25-2009, 10:37 PM Yes Same Springs And Yes They Are Dope....
I Am Running Them On My Gen3 And They Are By Far The Best Shocks I Have Ever Used......
I HAVE TWO SETS AND I AM SELLING ONE SET IN THE SWAP AND SELL SECTION FOR 30.00 SHIPPED FOR THE PAIR..

SKOAL BANDIT 07-07-2009, 10:49 PM Where are the FACTORY TEAM Drivers? I would have thought there would be some more support for the car now that it's released?
Porksalot4L 07-08-2009, 12:07 AM one thing about Associated is i dont think they sponsor alot of factory guys in oval. and im sure the guys that are running for them arent always available online. lets face it not everyone can be online as much as me lol. but your right i would figure there would be a few guys on here talking more about the car now that it is out. i know b4 it came out back in feb Sean C was on alot talking about it! maybe hes alot more busy in the summer time
Keith Brown 07-08-2009, 12:45 AM Don Natale won the 21.5 lipo Nastruck this past Sunday against a stout field with the new ride. Chassis got better every run he made. Sweet looking Ride. Hope he will bring it up north for the carpet race this weekend.
swtour 07-08-2009, 01:40 AM ...nah! He won't travel for the carpet!!
It's good to hear he pulled a WIN with it though!! Good job NATALE, been a while...bet it felt GOOD!!!

I'm checking in from time to time when I have a free moment. I haven't seen any questions lately that I can give any relavent info. We don't have any cap tracks out west.
If any one has questions, shoot me a PM or post here and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Sorry I looked for a 10R5 Oval thread and didn't see on....my bad....
Yea Joe it was good...and it defently has been a long time. Your right I can't make it to the carpet unless I catch a ride, and this weekend the Wife is back from NY and we are going to Vegas.
But I can't wait till next month for HRH and hopefully I will have another 10R5 Oval chassis to make a Car to run.....
See you all next month at HRH and Velo Drome.
Answer to the metric tool sizes
The majority of the bottom chassis screws (flat head) take a standard wrench size 5/64 hex driver
The button head screws for the front end and top plate also take the standard 5/64 hex driver
The ball ends for the shocks are a 3mm hex driver
There is a 4-way socket wrench in the kit. The only socket I used was the locknuts for the shocks and front end. my research has found that its a 5.5mm nut driver.
The one I'm still not sure about is the flat head screws for the pivot sockets in the t-plate. Not confirmed but being told its a 1/16 hex driver
There are also a couple 2/56 cap heads.
I think that about covers it.
Sean I have a question
Tech support is saying to cut a notch in the shock o-ring bearing #4662. Purpose is to help with the shock oil flow? Also there are 2 of them per shock. cut a notch in each one? Could you also be more specific on the "notch"

Thanks for chiming in Sean, I understand and I'm sure you & G-Honey will have more info and car setup tips once the Carpet season gets into full swing.

You can cut both ends if you want but it is only necessary on the end you put together last. I just take a exacto knife and cut a flat spot into the washer that goes below the o-ring. This just allows an easier path for the excess oil to bleed out. Then finish assembly as normal.

The other wrench size you are looking for is 1.5mm.
Complete list of tools.
1.5mm hex wrench
2.0mm or 5/64 hex wrench
3.0mm hex wrench
3/32 hex wrench for wheel screws
5.5mm nut driver
11/32 nut driver for diff nut
SKOAL BANDIT 07-11-2009, 12:24 AM Sean, would please clear up what servo the car is drilled for, I was told that a FUTABA S9551 would fit, but it doesn't. I think the FUTABA S9650 my be the way to go, is that correct?
SeanC42 07-13-2009, 07:08 PM I don't know which servos specifically will fit. We slotted the holes so many will go in with little trouble. I use JR DS3421. Mini/mid size servos should fit but full size will not.
Skoal
Mounted a Futaba 9650 in mine.

Tommygun43 07-13-2009, 11:50 PM Anyone know the part number for the new front end?
SKOAL BANDIT 07-14-2009, 12:02 AM http://aedownloads.com/downloads/drawings/drawing_rc10r5o.pdf
I"m not sure if they have a P/N for a complete front end kit, but see the attached link for all the piece P/N's that make up the complete front end.
napolean 07-16-2009, 04:24 PM Just a word of caution about the possibility of building the front end incorrectly: The carbon plate for the base of the front end can be installed upside down, and the instructions are not helpful in telling you which way to install it. The plate, when it's installed correctly, moves the entire front end slightly over to the left, when looking down at it from above, right-side up. Half of the guys around here have done it wrong, and the other half did it right....by accident. Also check the right rear hub, since some of ours needed some chamfering of the thru hole to allow the bearings to seat properly. Otherwise the kit goes together well and the car is very impressive.
SKOAL BANDIT 07-17-2009, 05:30 PM 86658
The correct mount is shown in the attached pic, it's easy to tell. The longer screw slots go to the left, that is also shown in the assembly manual.
napolean 07-18-2009, 10:08 AM Too bad your post, and pic wasn't included in the manual. Sure a view is shown in the manual, but nothing tell you in plain English which view was top or bottom! All I can say is that no-one we talked to who put one together had any idea that their was a right way to do it, until we showed them.
LennyDude 07-18-2009, 03:00 PM Anyone know the part number for the new front end?
The part number for the entire front end kit is ASC4686
MIKE VALENTINE 07-18-2009, 07:19 PM I would assume you can mount it either way as a tunning option.

Good point Mike.
67-4-fun 07-19-2009, 11:07 AM for you guys that have 10R5O, what is the measurement from center to center on the bottom bulkhead screws holes, from my understanding the new front end will not bolt up to our current chassis that use the original strut front end?

It will not fit any other chassis that I've ever seen, the new 10R5 front end requires 3mm screws instead of the 8-32 screws on other cars.

i did not think it would, as for the measurement do you know what it is? from one hole to the other on the bulkhead, bottom screw holes to mount it to chassis..
LennyDude 07-19-2009, 04:47 PM I think this is the measurement you are looking for?

close, but i need the one on the bulkhead
LennyDude 07-19-2009, 08:34 PM close, but i need the one on the bulkhead
If you are talking about where the lower arm bolts, that is also 1.5" or 38mm

ok thank you!!!
katf1sh 07-23-2009, 12:40 PM i just want to thank g honey and sean for a job well done!
and i just want to say i am in love!
Did some test and tune on concrete today with the R5.
Car was really hooked up.
If you are interested in concrete set-up send me a pm.
Anything in the works for some rear steer plates ??
katf1sh 07-23-2009, 09:37 PM not sure it's needed? but i'm sure someone will sell them...wink wink HD wink wink or ORC wink wink
just got mine thursday, got a problem with the pivotballs int he t bar how do you keep them tight, they back out of the balls
LennyDude 07-26-2009, 01:15 PM The top of the ball if you look real close has a internal HEX. You take (if i remember) a 2.5mm or 3.0mm hex wrench and hold it as you tighten up the lower screw.
