win43 06-15-2009, 10:17 AM They sure can dance :rolleyes::freak::lol:
Parade is today. After the game, everyone was out celebrating......And with it being a Friday, I think the weekend was spent recouperating.
oldraceral 06-15-2009, 01:31 PM Congrats to them. That was a good finish to the series. It looked like Detroit was going to tie the game with about 2 seconds to go.
ParkRNDL 06-15-2009, 01:41 PM yeah, i have a friend from work who's a huge Penguins fan. i generally give her a hard time... not that there's anything wrong with the Penguins, it's more that she gives a fig about hockey in general... :D
roffutt 06-15-2009, 01:45 PM Great series.. Amazing Playoffs! Bitter sweet to beat the defending champions on their home ice to win the cup, as they did win the cup the year previous in Pittsburgh!
No hope for the Pirates this year.. or any time in the near future. At least the Steeler's Season starts soon.

donzi22 06-17-2009, 08:26 PM As a wings fan I congratulate your Pens. I think a lot of your coach as I watched him play college hockey for Bowling Green and I hope Cindy Crosby learned by his mistake of not leading his team in shaking hands.
AfxToo 06-18-2009, 06:40 AM Ah, behold the backhanded compliment...
It's ironic how everyone, especially those in the sports media and sports fans, have suddenly become foot soldiers in Miss Manner's Army in charge of courtesy enforcement.
NBC hi-jacked Sidney for a few minutes after the team got together after the game ended. That's why he got to the handshake line late.
roadrner 06-18-2009, 01:13 PM They sure can dance :rolleyes::freak::lol:
:lol::lol: rr
A drive boats, planes and etc.......
smalltime 06-18-2009, 04:50 PM I too am a Wings fan, and we have had plenty to cheer about for a long time. I'm glad the series went down to the last second (literaly) and I'm glad the Penguins came back in such good fasion for the final game.
So, from a diehard Wings fan:
CONGRATULATIONS to the Penguins!
noddaz 06-18-2009, 05:41 PM Ah, behold the backhanded compliment...
Yes, as he insults the captain of the team. :(
AfxToo 06-18-2009, 06:34 PM The handshake after a hockey game are for the benefit of the players, for the players, not for the fans and media. It's a great tradition and a way of acknowledging the hard fought battle on both sides, win or lose. If there was a intentional act of disrespect to make a point it would be one thing, but there wasn't. Even it it were it would be handled as any other player-player matter in the game of hockey, on the ice, not by making a deal about it to the media or fans. You're talking about a young kid who was within 5 minutes of experiencing the biggest day of his life and who probably couldn't recite his mothers name in a coherent manner at that time. Trying to rain on the guy's parade by whining through the media about something that is a man-man matter, especially in the heady light of what was happening at that point in time and with the whole set of circumstances, is trivial, very trivial.
Great series and great win for the Pens, they earned it the hard way. Congrats on another sports championship for the city of Pittsburgh. Must be nice.
Bill Hall 06-18-2009, 07:53 PM Ah, behold the backhanded compliment...

Considering the sub sewer level that the media will lower itself to scoop something up.... Miss Manners better pop some galloshes in her purse.
I used to just catch the game(s) and leave the mute on...now I just tune out and box score the aftermath.
...why are their lips still moving?
sethndaddy 06-18-2009, 11:59 PM As said, great series, and so sweet to see the Pens back on top again (yes, I am a Penguins fan from long past).
I am sure there was no hard feelings on either side, the Redwings are a great team too.
Saw the rebroadcast of Game-7 yesterday and Sid wasn't grabbed by the media until after the handshake........My mistake. But it still wasn't that long before he got in the handshake line. But you gotta take in cosideration that he's a kid, barely able to drink legally, captain of his team, and just won the Cup. It was a shame he got hurt in the 2nd period and couldn't finish the game.
It was a nice touch when Sid was called to get the cup from Gary Bettman, after bringing it to the team the first guys to get the cup passed from Sid were the veteran guys: Bill Guerrin, Hal Gill, Miroslav Satan, Sergei Gonchar...... Except for Guerrin, this was these vets' first Cup.
