Mickey Rourke as "Whiplash" (or at least the pre-arch enemy version) in "Iron Man 2".

Maybe it'll be fine, but it's a little sad to see him go from what he did in The Wrestler to playing a comic-book bad guy. Hey, Nicholson did it and stole the show, so who knows.

I'm not that familiar with the property.. Why does he have a "heart light" like Tony?

It's gotta be demeaning to be in the followup to a big blockbuster with a massive fan base and play second fiddle to people like Robert Downey, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle or Samuel Jackson. A truly horrible turn of events for an actor. :)

Actually. Rourke's performance as Marv (a comic-book bad guy) in "Sin City" is essentially the role that put him back in the game.

A great actor is a great actor and "comic-book" roles are perfectly suitable to the craft.

Let's see:

Marlon Brando
Gene Hackman
Jack Nicholson
Michelle Pfeiffer
Tommy Lee Jones
Willem Dafoe
Alfred Molina
Ian McKellen
Michael Caine
Gary Oldman
Heath Ledger
Kevin Spacey

.... to name just a few. ;)

I had forgotten about Sin City. Fun movie.

Well made point, and I agree now that you've reminded me. In fact, I loved Pacino in Dick Tracy; his performance is the only part of that movie to stick with me over the years.
