There was also a KFC Star Trek ad that screened here back, IIRC, in the 90's. Not sure how they did it - CGI perhaps, or animation (only it wasn't a cartoon, just looked slightly not real) - but it was the original crew from the TOS period.

I loved that Direct TV commercial. The KFC commercial was new to me, but it souinded like Shatner did some voice-over work for it. And yes, the actors DID look a lot like their television counterparts. I think some of it was makeup...look at the guy doing Kirk, there is an awful lot of cake on that face.

Love the KFC spot. I believe all the voices except Shatner's are pulled from old episodes. Shatner seems to have done new voice work. There are a couple shots where the characters look freakishly like the originals.

Yea, real freaky! Hard to believe that some of those wern't actually the real actors!

Uhura and Scotty were dead on. Kirk was a mask of some sort.

In the White Castle, is Harold and Kumar in it?
I guess since Harold is Sulu, he is.

No in the White Castle commercial you only hear a persons voice,You don't see any people.You just see the Enterprise docked at a Space station with the White Castle on the top.A voice then says I'd like a couple of thousand Hamburgers then the Enterprise kind of lifts up and pulls away.The Model used I believe was the A.M.T.Enterprise painted over Silver.Its worth seeing it again.

I fondly recall seeing the White Castle Trek commercial when I was a kid. I'd love to see it again, too.

The KFC and DirectTV ads were fun. This is the first time I've seen either one of them. Thanks for posting them.
