Hey guys, I figure this is the best place to ask for help in identifying a diecast toy car I had waaay back when I was a wee little kid. No pics. Just a bunch of details I remember. Perhaps this'll be a fun test of knowledge for collectors who know their stuff?
About 30 years ago, I remember receiving a diecast toy car as a gift when I visited Japan. It was definitely a diecast car of the DeTomaso Pantera. Diecast body and I think plastic undercarriage. Scale size was probably around 1/24 I think. It probably wasn’t in any scale. It had the two-tone red and black coloring much like the Tomica Limited posted by stretchdog below. It featured treaded rubber tires which I think were of the low profile type. Rear engine hatch opened to reveal a simple silver painted engine detail. Doors also opened and something inside the cockpit popped open the headlights (I don’t remember what - all I remember is that there was some kind of gimmick to pop open the front headlights).
That’s about all I can remember. Anybody have an idea who the maker might have been? It’s not a Kyosho or Tomica Limited since as I wrote above, it was 30 years ago.
