i spotted a couple of Preator chassis in the group, how do they do on dirt?

Well they are not strictly Predators anymore. The side plates and front ends are all that is basically left of Larry's cars. The motors have been turned around 180 degrees. This allows for a pinion on the drive to a crown gear on the lay shaft. This runs a small FG 20mm wide pulley to a larger 20mm wide pulley on the axle as the final drive. Bit more to it that the standard left side thin belt drive. Most of the sprintcars at LQSS have moved to this system, or something very close. Keeps the belt free from dirt as it's inside the body and also runs down the centre line of the chassis, thus keeping a constant tension on a dirt track that can cut upand become rough through a race meeting.

These pics are from my Australian made sprinter by Terry Bennett of Bullet Racecars of Sydney, that has the same system as described in the previous post.
This system has removed all drive problems that left belt drive cars have when they race on dirt, which is all we do in Australia. We have no "black tracks."
