View Full Version : My 1st full box score
SMS88 06-07-2009, 10:03 AM Other collectors that I know have bought many boxes of childhood toys direct from the families that owned them, and finally today I was the first to discover this box which contains some gems from Dinky (UK & FRance) amongst others...total cost $60

And after removing the gems, there is stuff with potential for me to look at in the coming week

Lummox 06-07-2009, 10:31 AM Holy christ on a corn-dog...I can't believe the stuff you keep finding over there!
That long skinny gold and white bus looks interesting. Nice military stuff to. :2thumbsupmick!:
SMS88 06-07-2009, 05:34 PM The bus is a Tekno Mercedes 0302 coach from 1969 although this bodywork was used largely unchanged on production exported widely for around 10 years.
I am amazed myself at the stuff that turns up here -its the dont throw anything away takecare of your stuff mentality that is part of our culture I guess.......
karl s 06-07-2009, 08:27 PM A box of 100 old diecast and only one Tekno - I guess you do not live in DK anymore?

There was a Kojak figure and no Kojak car, a green beer crate and no Tekno D series beer truck so my best guess is that perhaps the guys who had these cars as kids kept a few cars that they particularly liked and then let the rest go when they cleared the house which was in Copenhagen. All the cones for the Dinky Transit and Corgi RangeRover were present but the Cortina that completes the gift set with the Polizi Helicopter was missing.I havent yet looked very thoroughly in the bottom of the box so I may still find the rear door for the ambulance there.........
dragonhead00 06-08-2009, 03:18 AM Awesome score to say the least! Nice going! My eyes went straight to the VW's and the buses. I like the military vehicles, also.

Noddy is hiding in my "spare-box" ;) Have been saving him in case the car should show up.
If you plan on keeping the Noddy Car in your collection (and only then:p); You can have him.

Yes Please Karl! I tried to send you an email on sunday about this box but it was returned undeliverable -have you changed your email address?
I saw Noddy on TV and his books as a child, and I ate Robertsonīs Marmelaide too - simpler times

SMS88 06-10-2009, 06:52 PM The very nice Renault 4 needs a windscreen & whiplash aerila to be complete, and the halftrack which still rolls on these original rubber tracks appears to be missing a couple of figures, but still lovely along with the sole repaint in the box, a polistil Citroen Mehari, which probably joined the french army in the 1970s in huge numbers...

SMS88 06-13-2009, 09:11 AM These are are rather playworn but still have charm.......
British champions Graham Hill & Jim Clark both drove British racing green Lotuses with the yellow nose stripe ........this Mercedes Coach is not as nice as Karlīs what with the missing driverīs door & cab seat. The 1/36 Corgi LandRover & trailer was from an unsuccessful Corgi Tarzan gift set

I found a dozen more cars this weekend, and at $2 this very rare but heavily weathered Jensens promo Corgi Hillman Imp is a keeper :)

Well at least you know it's original  At the prices the MB versions go for, I would not trust them all to be real - easy to slap a decal on an old Corgi!
Here's another original for sale: Austin Se7en (http://www.qualitydiecasttoys.com/viewitem.php?id=4869)
Lummox 06-14-2009, 12:37 PM It's got all the charm and maybe more as a clean one does imo.

You are spot on as far as the Mini is concerned, as standard red ones dont cost much mib, but the Imp in light blue was a special Jensens only colour so this is much harder to fake! These Imps do show up here playworn, a dealer that both Karl S & Karl E and myself has bought from reckons that there are likely hundreds of survivors in varying degrees of playwear although very very few perhaps a dozen mib.
