What are the advandge of brushless over brushed. I've been looking at a brushless system from traxx whould it work in a hyperdrive chase?

brush motor have to be rebuilt almost every run to be at its best and you should have more than one. I bought my novak 13.5 in 07 and it is still going strong.
yes it will fit in a hyperdrive.

I feel the brushless motors have a performance advantage over brushed. I have never done the every run rebuild thing, that's a bit extreme, but if you want that top notch performance.
The power band on brushless is awesome, gobs of torque so you can gear them to the moon. I love a motor that will pull real hard coming out of a turn.
I have a 10.5 dirt oval car that will pull the front wheels off the ground coming out of a turn.

I'm sure that you threw your brushed motors away after one run. LOL You need to post what you know and don't speculate on what you don't. You could not be further from the truth!

Now Herman if you listen to flyingfinn8 he would have you believe brushed motors are the scourge of the racing world but they are not!
I'll agree that brushless units have just about made all brushed systems obsolete. Not because it's a bad technology or for the reasons stated above, nope the brushed technology is no longer supported by the manufacturers. If the manufacturers don't sell them guess what, yep no brushed units.
So if you plan to be in electric racing for a while, I suggest that you either stock up on brushed speed controls or make the switch to a brushless system.
I have a Castle system on my BRP 1/18 scale car and it's a good one. I run it off of Nimh batterys no lipo's but depending on where you race or who you race with that consideretaion may also need to be made as well.

Get ready to spend some money if you purchase new units and be careful if you purchase used units. What ever you choose have fun with it.

I race in a spec class that allows either brushed stock motors or Novak 17.5 Brushless and the SMC 3200 28C LiPo. Right now, the brushed motors are faster, so that is what I use.

I did cut the comm and new brushes every run because a raced with some of the best in the northeast. All I now is now with the brushless taking over I don't buy as many motors and with the Lipos its never been cheaper. Or closer. A month ago I missed the A-main .200 , thats close. My car was .02 per lap slower than the pole sitter.
