View Full Version : Team Orion - Lipos
swtour 06-04-2009, 04:54 PM NOTHING New Here!!
We're still running the same 3400's we've been running and they are still providing GREAT satisfaction w/o worrying about someone coming out and screwing things up!
What's better yet is the "ORIGINAL" Orion 3200 is still competitive on all the tracks, and several racers are going on 3+ years on these packs.
The KOKAM Lipo cells in the TEAM ORION Packs have proven to be DURABLE and provide GREAT CLOSE Racing, week in and week out!
...are they as HOT on the VOLTAGE as some of the others? Absolutely NOT (But because of that - we're NOT having to slow down to ONE Cell to get the car speeds back where they belong)
(5) Minute races on everything from the short 165' CARPET OVAL to the 820' Concrete Monster we know as the ENCINO VELODROME these packs provide GREAT SERVICE and RELIABILITY!~

swtour 06-20-2009, 03:06 AM WOW the NEW Orion Cells SHATTER the VELO Track Record in the Spec 21.5/LIPO class...
Joe Blackburn set the 21.5/LIPO record running our FIRST 29 lap 5 minute run back in February.
1 29/5:08.17 Joe Blackburn 52.61 MPH
But, this past weekend NIC CASE Shattered that record with the NEWER "High Performance" ORION Packs...
1 29/5:04.69 Nic Case 53.21 MPH
ooops... there IS No new "High Performance" Orion 3400 - it's still the same one that came out LAST YEAR! We just keep figuring out how to go faster and faster by refining the same setup and getting maximum performance from the equipment we have...
Add to that - the motors used in the top 2 cars were well above the minimum 51.7 microhenris on the inductance meter! (So it's not about the lowest number to get the TOP Speed on one of the LARGEST R/C Ovals in the country!)
NOTE: Nic Case IS the fastest R/C Racer IN THE WORLD
CraigMBA 06-21-2009, 11:51 PM I hear the hot ticket is to put the 3200's in the microwave rather than use a heating pad.
Are guys really taking microwaves to the racetrack?
swtour 06-22-2009, 01:45 AM LOL Duty -- Just get yourself back in line to make a run for a CHAMPIONSHIP in 2010.
The 2010 season will be the 10th YEAR of the SWTour!!
Oh and if someone IS bringing a MICROWAVE hopefully they will let me know....I'll bring some frozen burritos we can warm up too! (I wonder if they would like it in the heating pad with the LIPOS!!)

LAST WEEKEND we were back at it again... SAME BATTERY (The Orion Spec 3400 LIPO)
and once again - the 21.5/LIPO Record DESTROYED...
It was broken by another LONG TIME "Modified" racer Gary Hamilton

SWTour Goes back to the RUG
in LINDSAY CA
The last time the SWT hit the RUG, 'ol Jeff "HUMPTY" Helms came and put on a carpet clinic!
Well, on Sept. 12th he's coming back, and bringing FRIENDS....
The KSG guys say "BRING IT ON" We're ready for you and the sea of RED!
Not to be left out, Scot Petiticlerc has a new member of TEAM STRYKER and plans to get in on some of this action as well...
So on the WEST COAST - Sept. 12th will be the "RUMBLE on the RUG!" and RECORDS are sure to fall again!!
Humpty 08-26-2009, 05:30 PM Can not wait Joe...
LARCGuy 08-27-2009, 01:45 PM Should be a great one!
swtour 09-11-2009, 01:08 AM Safe travels to those heading to LINDSAY tomorrow sometime.
I'm hoping the track gets layed down early enough that guys can do some shake down Friday night, but this is our first race since School is back in session, and we still don't know for sure what time the rug will get laid down
NOTE: I should have my 'regular' Tech Crew, and we'll be checking the performance issues this time!!
Oh and we should have a new TRIPLE BEAM Scale in Tech for car WEIGHT!
swtour 09-13-2009, 02:23 PM Team Orion SPEC 3400's privide ANOTHER great race!

The South-West Tour's "SPEC" rules - using exclusively the TEAM ORION 3400 Lipo again provided a GREAT race event yesterday on the 165 ft. Carpet Oval in LINDSAY CA.
One of the greatest things we've seen staying with the ONE battery rule for SO long is guys really get to fine tune their cars and setups, and KNOW when they make improvements. The consistency of the NOVAK Brushless Power, and the LIPO Battery Power provided by TEAM ORION's KOKAM Lipo batteries has made racing a lot of fun.
THANK YOU Team ORION for your continued support of the SWTour Series!!

RCMits 09-14-2009, 12:56 PM Oh and if someone IS bringing a MICROWAVE hopefully they will let me know....I'll bring some frozen burritos we can warm up too! (I wonder if they would like it in the heating pad with the LIPOS!!)
Buck's lipo's smell like french fries.
wait a minute 09-14-2009, 01:02 PM just wondering if anyone is using the new cot bodies and wondering what they thought of them?
swtour 09-14-2009, 08:14 PM nobody in our deal has really played too much with the COT's. I have a couple I've been wanting to run - but never seem to have the time @ the track.
