View Full Version : Minnreg Carpet Racing July 18th/19th - FLORIDA
RCThunder 06-03-2009, 12:42 PM Hello racers. We have booked the weekend of July 18th and 19th for carpet road and carpet oval racing. Saturday is road - Sunday is oval. We will have practice Friday night for road and Saturday night for oval. Looking at an awesome race weekend indoors in the heat of the summer - rain or shine you are on the line! Road racing will feature touring rubber, 12th, and World GT. Yes we are working on classes for LiPo's in 12th and GT! These classes are growing Nationwide and are bringing back many road racers, as with LiPo and brushless racing is a lot less stress. Oval will feature all the basic's racing now with the COT body debuting in 13.5 1S LiPo.
I will have more information as we get closer - but wanted to get the dates out and official word we are locked into Minnreg next month. Hope to see everyone there for two days of great racing action!

RCThunder 07-01-2009, 03:03 PM Hey Steve. I think we are bit early for the 10.5 and 7.5 in July. 7.5 is still being tested out, so 17.5 will be a STRONG class. And 21.5 is still a big class down here in the South so I look for that to maybe be the biggest. Probably a good 25 in each.. maybe 30. COT single 13.5 will be a big class though as it is growing. And SKs too and 12th! Hoping for 100... ya never know. Hope to see ya down for some good racing!
SMROCKET 07-01-2009, 03:05 PM Hi Mikey ,I m working on getting pedro in tow and flying down for the weekend SRM

Nice turnout Mike!
Al Spina Fan 07-24-2009, 12:54 PM Dave P.....I am still faster than you....So much for retirement huh.......lol
davepull 07-24-2009, 08:39 PM What was the track size @ MINNREG?
(Drive line and Width and Length if possible)
same size as snowbirds
RCThunder 07-24-2009, 11:58 PM Thanks Peter - yes it was a great weekend. So happy to see so many racers racing - and it seems to be growing down here a little... some new guys, dirt guys, old guys,,,, cool!
swtour 07-25-2009, 03:33 AM same size as snowbirds
Thanks Dave, but THAT doesn't help me one bit.
I want to try to make sure OUR "West Coast" track is as close as possible in size - so our next races can be 'Birds Warm-Up races.
We have 100 x 48 worth of carpet...so a end to end length (outside of ice to outside of ice) would be helpful too.
RCThunder 07-25-2009, 11:18 AM Overall length I think is 92 foot and it is 40 wide... infield width is 14 feet and corner width is about 14 feet that should get close length for infield pipe. Hope this helps.
katf1sh 07-25-2009, 11:31 AM hacker!
Dpreston 07-25-2009, 11:42 AM hacker!
Funny coming from MR DOOR SHOT! lol
swtour 07-25-2009, 02:20 PM Overall length I think is 92 foot and it is 40 wide... infield width is 14 feet and corner width is about 14 feet that should get close length for infield pipe. Hope this helps.
Thanks Mike
We should be pretty close already then, we're 4 rolls wide, the full length of a basketball court, I believe the measured run line was 165 ft.
There's a video from our last race here - http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=261018
katf1sh 07-25-2009, 04:57 PM joe the video of your track shows like the groove is almost like your in a turn the whole track? i think we have more straight?
jflack 07-25-2009, 06:56 PM Minnreg normally rolls about 174 ft running line....Snowbirds is about 180ft.........
swtour 07-25-2009, 07:18 PM Kat, if you guys are only 40ft wide and we're 48, that would probably be true...and I think our ICE is only 8 ft. wide. (It may be 12 though, I forget)
We have enough room, as the guys get more betta, we can still pull the ends of our ice out about another 4 ft. each direction, which should get us really close to a 180ft run line. (I left a lot of run off room for slower traffic)
The "WEST COAST" guys have made GREAT improvements in their Carpet driving the last 18 months. We didn't get to do too much of it before that.
Hopefully it will help some of them be more competitive when they head back to FL. for "The Big One"
katf1sh 07-26-2009, 01:03 AM btw joe your carpet race and ours use almost the same set-up
our rug is laid down on a gym floor as well..
any rug practice is rug practice! looked like a good race
swtour 07-26-2009, 02:25 AM Yeah, this gym is sweet. It's a brand new facility, the floor is AWESOME. It's the rubberized FAKE wood looking stuff, and the carpet really likes it.
We were using the NEW McDermont Field House (Activities Center) which uses that SNAP together Plastic flooring over concrete. That seemed to let AIR get underneath the rug, and it was hard to get it to lay flat.
One of my favorite things w/ this gym is they have a STAGE, so I don't need to put up a drivers stand. (The only down side is there is no RAIL on the front of it for guys to lean up against)
At the race 2 weeks ago, it was 105 degrees OUTSIDE - and inside w/ the AC it was 78 degrees!
Scarecrow One 07-27-2009, 04:38 PM (The only down side is there is no RAIL on the front of it for guys to lean up against)
Well the RAIL for us AARP members is to steady us and then there are those it's to put their belly on. hehehe.
Glad to see you have found a place top run carpet.
