Wish I lived closer. nohope 06-08-2009, 10:30 PM I was working in goldsboro a few years back and stopped by one night and watched them practice on the inside carpet oval. I later heard that they took out the carpet oval track. now this great that they are building a new asphalt track. I race on a concrete oval here on the coast  kevina250 06-08-2009, 10:51 PM Only 1hr 20min. for me. Can't wait. Sam32 06-08-2009, 11:26 PM Yep, I'm definitely going to have to check it out when its done. It will be great to have another track in my home state. Larry B 06-09-2009, 12:12 AM Kevin and Sam, I may have to get another nitro car.... With Lin out I just could not get into nitro this year. Tarheel 06-15-2009, 01:13 PM Coming soon to a town near you. Asphalts going down this week. kevina250 06-15-2009, 02:17 PM Looking good. ScottH 06-16-2009, 07:37 PM That looks really good! I see a new venue on the GASCAR season for next year, that is if you will have us. ScottH 06-16-2009, 07:39 PM 9hrs 15min -- 586 miles. WOW what a road trip! hatcher#56 06-16-2009, 09:10 PM looks great Larry B 06-18-2009, 02:16 PM Now that TOUR has set up their rules has any thought been given to classes for the outside and carpet for this season? Would be nice to be able to get a head start on putting equipment together. I am thinking 13.5/1cell and 10.5/1cell. The I bet SMC weights untill the last minute to submit a new 1 cell battery. Also I would like to see if there is any intrest in the SK modified class. Kriter and I will have cars. I also plan to run that class at the Birds and talking to Allan it may be added to some of the races at Greeneville. Seven 06-18-2009, 03:01 PM Larry, 10.5 single and 13.5 single will both be classes this year on the carpet (along with 17.5 single truck). As far as SK's go, if there is enough to run, Glen will let them race. SMC will have a new single cell out before the Oct 1st deadline. I'm sure the current Thunder Power single cell that just came out, will perform as good or better. Seven 06-18-2009, 09:23 PM Here is a picture of the new track with the asphalt down. Looks nice!!! ScottH 06-18-2009, 09:59 PM Lookin' Good!!! kevina250 06-18-2009, 10:54 PM Nice!!!! oval racer 2 06-19-2009, 11:31 AM Nice!!!! WIPE THE DROOL OFF YOUR CHIN KEVIN!! I will certainly try to make a trip up there and check it out. --Cory bush87 06-20-2009, 10:23 PM Been up to rosewood for carpet, looks like a road trip in the future. track looks Good tw78911sc 06-30-2009, 09:26 AM is the track ready for practice laps? Larry B 06-30-2009, 02:26 PM How about some more pics Seven 06-30-2009, 10:50 PM Here are a few pictures of the insulation and sheetrock inside and the outdoor oval with the wall. I think they may be adding higher walls around the outside of the track soon, but the initial wall is up. Dwight Tart 07-01-2009, 01:23 PM Please keep the updates coming, I live in Sampson county and have beein hoping for a asphalt oval closer by for years Tarheel 07-02-2009, 09:57 AM Progress report. Asphalt man is coming back this week to give a final roll. We have one outside lower wall up and working on the upper part. Outside wall will be 18 inches tall. Putting a fence around everything soon. A touch of grass is starting to grow. That will be the hold up. Grass is hard to get started this time of year. here are some more pix. enjoy. Dwight Tart 07-02-2009, 02:07 PM What size/banking? It looks huge. losi nut 07-02-2009, 02:18 PM I think it's 10 degrees of banking and a 299' run line Bob ScottH 07-02-2009, 07:09 PM Looks good. What is that about 7* in the turns and 300' run line? Tarheel 07-02-2009, 09:47 PM 300 foot running line and 10* banking. Strights are 16 feet and turns are around 20 feet. Glenn Billy Gore 07-04-2009, 10:53 AM so when do you think they will be some racing on that track? Tarheel 07-04-2009, 11:54 PM Shooting for the 25th of July for first race. Come on out. Glenn ScottH 07-05-2009, 12:51 AM If there was not a GASCAR race already that weekend I know of at least one Nitro Pan car that would be there to test. Dwight Tart 07-06-2009, 12:46 PM Any idea when you will allow practice, and what classes will you run Tarheel 07-06-2009, 10:00 PM You can start to practice this saturday. Electric pan car 13.5 bl Electric nastruck 17.5 (touring car with 4wd) .09 pancar 12-15 pancar offroad truck w .15 electric Legend more ScottH 07-06-2009, 10:06 PM Hey Kevin -- you going?? Dwight Tart 07-07-2009, 01:20 PM I assume 1 cell 13.5 BL Tarheel 07-07-2009, 05:41 PM Sorry, single cell for sure. I have one request from all the drivers wanting to come practice on the oval. Please be curtious and go by these times so as not to bother the neighbors. I have'nt had any complaints from them and hope to keep it that way. Thanks Practice days Monday-Friday 10am-6pm Saturday- Race day- 10am untill race is over. Sunday Track closed WLMaye 07-08-2009, 08:28 AM Glen, Will the wood adopt the TOUR rules package for this season? I know there has always been the "run what you brung" freedom here but I would like to know how to set up for the classes that will be offered. TOUR rules will be the norm at the Ovalmasters and the Birds, seems like the obvious choice for us... at least for pan cars that is. Can't wait to run a banked oval again. Thanks, Bill J-Dub Racing 07-08-2009, 10:09 AM Bill- I know that all of the VA crew will only want to run the TOUR stuff. I would guess most would be on board with that as a lot of us travel to the Birds, and Ovalmasters. Along with other tracks on the east cost. Joel White Larry B 07-08-2009, 12:37 PM I think that the TOUR rules will be good for the carpet, but in my experience on caps, the 13.5/1cell may be a little slow. TOUR has not realy addressed large ovals and cap racing as of now. I also think the COT/TCC and small wing will not be an easy starting combo for new racers on caps. I have raced many times at Easley an other cap tracks(.09 nitro, 13.5/4cell and 21.5/2400 lipo). At Easley those classes turn laps in the 5.8 to 6.2 seconds range. 13.5/1cell class at Easley runs almost 34 laps compared to 39 for 21.5/2400sportsman and 40 laps for 21.5 /3200 pro class. My thought for pan cars outside: 13.5/1cell smc with nastruck body and 2" spolier or COT, spec or pink only tires 10.5/1cell open battery, stock car body, open tire 21.5/3200 battery, stock car body and open tires ( most will still find 4 pinks the best) to have this class tamed down and control cost the Orion 2400 battery could be speced. I would also sugest that the Easley rules package be used somewhat to have racers able to compete at both. Thanks Glenn for what you have done to support us racers and I look forward to getting back there. WLMaye 07-09-2009, 08:55 AM Yeah I agree withyou Larry on the asphalt oval, I would think that 17.5 would be way too slow for that big of a track. I was thinking mostly carpet. We do need a definitive class structure and using what Easly has would be my vote. Bill Dwight Tart 07-09-2009, 09:31 AM As a kinda newbie, (haven't raced since Sandhills shutdown and never outside) some class structure, what ever it is, would be nice. I like what TOUR has to offer, and most of the major oval races have adopted it. Thanks Glenn for what you have done to support us racers and I look forward to getting back there. We are currently running a 13.5/Single Cell class outside at the Grove in Rock Hill, SC. Track is 365ft. I'm running the Protoform COT and turning 6.4s with it. I'm using the smc 4000 and BSR Spec caps. Let me know what you guys decide to do. I'll be up for some 13.5/Single Cell. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
