I was perusing a huge flea market today and I found what appears to be a ZERO rated car in Bob Beers book. It is a black painted Cobra with red carpet and black seats. It is missing the rear bumper, windshield and driver. It has some scratches in the paint. it looks better in real life than these pics show.
I dont know what course of action to take with this car. Should I locate a bunch of aurora parts and fix er up with those, or get repros? Since it is already a factory painted car, would repainting it make it less valuable? I also found a number ONE car in the same place, however it is cut pretty badly. It is a green on green Falcon. It has some glue on the window and is cut front and rear , but I am happy to have found 2 such rare cars. Does anyone have an idea to the value of these. Im pretty new to this scene, I have only been involved for about a year, so any input would be greatly appreciated. What would you pros do?

I really wouldnt recommend repainting or touching up your cobra,it will hurt the value, the paint loss isnt that bad for a factory painted body.if it were mine i would list it as it is on ebay, repro parts wouldnt add anything too such a rare car.I would think it would bring at least a couple hundered as is.

Greg's right ....no toucha the Cobra....well... I'd pop an original glass in it and find a suitably original worn driver...other than than that I'd leave the finish as is! That car appears to be black over an original tan body AKA "plastic explosive". Be careful... she'll be brittle!

As for the Falcon I'd just radius the chainsawed wells neatly and call it good. The "glue-bered" glass can be wet sanded and polished if it's not schlobbered too bad.

PS: Lock your door. Nuther Dave lives by you.

Yeah, Bill's suggestion is right on. The Falcon shouldn't be too hard to get looking good with a little Dremel time. Great find!:thumbsup: rr

Thanks for the tips. I was thinking of putting in an original glass and a beat up driver to match the beat up paint. I have the Falcon with me to round out the wheel wells at work. (body shop). I was going to try wetsanding and polishing the glass. I dont think it is too bad. Its mainly on the bottom where the window attaches.
