Well I promised to take some build-up pics, but the truth is the kit goes together so quickly and Randy's light kit is such a joy to work with, that I didn't want to stop to take pictures.

Everyone knows how much I don't like to follow instructions (usually at my own peril) and this kit was no exception. The instructions call for the bulbs to be glued to the back of the front cavity so that the plastic itself could act as a diffuser. I felt that this opened up too many cans of worms in terms of light blocking the body, so I cheerfully ignored that in favor of drilling out and placing the bulbs inside the "mouth' cavity. As expected, this did mean that the three bulbs are much more apparent and hot spots are much more evident.

what I did to combat that was

a) lightly sand the green clear peices with a 2000 grit sand paper, (heck I'd recommend that to anybody even if you don't light the kit. It makes the kit look less toy-like)

b) I took a short bit of acrylic rod, melted it and bent it to shape. I sanded the heck out of it to frost the whole deal and clear epoxied it over the exposed bulbs. in combination with the sanded dome. it diffused the hot spots qite nicely.

more pics after I get the final bits attached
