I heard on the news today that coyotes have been spotted in the Carolinas. The usual shy, elusive animals, try to avoid contact with humans, but are in search of food. Not native to the appalachian areas, coyotes prey on small rodents, and are adept at catching them in a chase. Some experts say that they are color blind, but others say that coyotes are particularly drawn to colors of red and blue. They are quick and agile, and love to hunt in packs. One has been spotted near the Easley, South Carolina area in recent weeks.
