View Full Version : Lopsided?
DesertSlot 05-27-2009, 06:44 PM I'm sure somebody can tell me why this G+ Ferrari has fender flares on one side?

joez870 05-27-2009, 07:17 PM ...Uuurrmmmm...because someone removed them from the other side?
roadrner 05-27-2009, 07:52 PM Must have rubbed them things right off. :) rr
old blue 05-27-2009, 08:29 PM If they are removed cleanly it would be intentional. Maybe someone had A.D.D. like me and did not finish the second side...............Is it raining outside?
Or, potentially, they could be running the tyco sparking rods set with the sand paper in the guard rail and sanded them off just by running them.
Just a thought,
Old Blue
DesertSlot 05-27-2009, 08:29 PM Funny (Joez & Dave). I thought maybe it was one of those odd jobs that originally steered or was set up for one lane or the other. Didn't I read about a car like that? If this thing wasn't lopsided it could be a nice car.
DesertSlot 05-27-2009, 08:32 PM Blue, maybe somebody did one side. I wonder if you could do the other side for me?
roadrner 05-27-2009, 08:41 PM How about posting a pic of the side that's missing the flares? rr
DesertSlot 05-27-2009, 09:03 PM I'll try to find it. In the meantime, check this one out.

Looks like the chasssis is on backwards to me. :D
micyou03 05-27-2009, 09:07 PM That one goes backwards?
Coyote Red 05-27-2009, 09:23 PM You have a good eye Desert. I saw that car too. And he has the nerve to call the car near mint. I'm gonna message him. Last week a guy threw out the word minty  on a car he had listed, but if you looked real close at his crappy pics both window posts had issues. I messaged him and never got a response.
roadrner 05-27-2009, 10:09 PM OK.

Good pic, could you do a closer one dead on from the side? rr
twolff 05-27-2009, 10:10 PM I'll try to find it. In the meantime, check this one out.

DesertSlot 05-28-2009, 06:34 AM That Ferrari has two side shots. Each one has the flares facing away. It looks like one of the pics is reversed? No, the background is correct. Two different cars? Check it out!

It looks like the flares are changing from one side to the other!
joez870 05-28-2009, 07:05 AM Look again. The wipers point up and to the right in both pics so it is not flipped.
On the hood, just above the 6 is a white spot/scratch. It is present in both pics also, so it is the same car.
Just an odd trick of the light that moves the flares around on ya.
roffutt 05-28-2009, 07:24 AM I'm pretty sure the flares you speak of are molded to the body and the silver is painted or tempo'ed on.. so it is probably rubbed off the bottom on one side... maybe a lot of oval racing?

DesertSlot 05-28-2009, 07:25 AM That is really bizzare. The seller just answered and said the flares are on both sides. I gotta get some new glasses!
twolff 05-28-2009, 10:47 AM Eeewww! The bottom is the "good" side on the yellow one. :)

It looks like the flares are changing from one side to the other!
Top pic.... driver's side has no flares. Bottom pic... passenger side has no flares. And vicesa versa. Looks like an optical illusion to me. :freak:
BRPHO 05-28-2009, 12:04 PM The red ferrari daytona I have in my collection has fender flares front and back on both sides......
Mine is missing its small mirrors though... LOL!!!!
Not sure why yours would only have them on one side?
Obviously someone trimmed them off one side but didnt finish the job on the other hence now your the owner of a lopsided ferrari.......
Better get to trimming up that other side to better equal out the weight distribution of that car......
Its a shame to see such a nice car trimmed up like that but over the years I have sat and scratched my head many times when seeing various slot car bodies and seeing how they have been carved on wondering what the person(kid) was thinking when creating such a work of art......

slotcarman12078 05-28-2009, 12:12 PM I believe the picture washed out the body lines. The flares are on both sides.. IF you look closely at the bottom pic RF wheel you can see the flare there.. It's the way he took the picture and the camera not being able to show the flares correctly. If the flares were gone on one side, you would be seeing the tops of the tires...
resinmonger 05-28-2009, 12:24 PM Regarding the Ferrari Daytona, I think the fenders are untouched. At certain camera angles, the near side flair blends into the rest of the car but you clearly see the opposite side flair. He has left-hand and right-hand photos and the same phenomina occurs in both shots.
Regarding the yellow car with the backwards Magnatraction chassis, I think this is the only way the chassis somewhat fits the body. This is not an AFX body not is it any other slot car brands' body that I'm familar with. Since it does sort of fit an AFX chassis, I am kinda curious about who makes it.

wheelszk 05-28-2009, 01:03 PM If you guys will take the time to go back to the auction site, you will see new pictures of this car with all of its fender flares.
Coyote Red 05-28-2009, 03:00 PM Just goes to show how unreliable photos can be. I posted a pic of a roadrunner I put up for auction, that had scratches on it's roof. I made it clear in the description, but you'd never been able to tell from the photos.
DesertSlot 05-28-2009, 10:27 PM That is pretty amazing. At least I and some body else got the guy to post better pictures of the flares. Now that I've drawn every bodies attention to it, I'll probably lose it. Oh well.
DesertSlot 05-30-2009, 08:45 AM Yep, I gave up when it went over $30!
noddaz 05-30-2009, 12:49 PM Looks like that Ferrari has a bit of stagger... lol
