I recently bought some AW 76 Torinos and they came with red chassis. I have also seen black, dark gray, red and white. I seem to remember someone offering a "spec" chassis on eBay that came in blue or orange. Can anyone confirm these colors and who was selling them?

Black chassis - regular issue
White chassis - White Thunder/I-Wheels
Red chassis - 1st edition 1st Laps/occasional regular issue cars from R2
Grey chassis - 2nd and 3rd release of 1st Laps

Some shops may have red or grey chassis, but charge extra for them.

I remember seeing ebay auctions for orange prototype AW chassis, which went for big bucks. Never saw blue chassis.

Shoe,

I believe the blue chassis was produced by Dragjet resins.

The Yellow, orange and blue chassis are painted chassis that the 'Bay seller has "blueprinted and detailed" then props a JL/AW body on, alla funnycar ,to complete the illusion.
If I remember rightly, he adds silver shoes and springs, epoxy balances the arm and matches the magnets and chamfers holes. Certainly ALL things that we can do our selves and not worth the 50 to 60 dollars that I have seen these things go for.
They sure do look nice, though.

Dragjet Resins DID do a chassis or two in TEAL with a matching 55 chev body as an excercise in his top shelf casting abilities. Chris added NOS underpinnings and NOS gearplate with all the monkey-motion. The pieces were truely beautiful. I wish I had one. heh! Being made of resin, I have no idea how well they would hold up to a floor or wall shot though.

Speaking of the funky AW chassis colors, has anyone else noticed that the white, grey and red ones tend to be just a LITTLE bit faster and smoother than the black ones--at least on average. I have 1 white one, 2 red ones (technically 3, but still waiting for one to come in the mail) and 5 grey ones. I know thats not a lot compared to probably 50 or so black JL and AW XTs, but all of these funky ones scream like crazy.

Perhaps the workers spend a few extra seconds assemblying the rare colors.

OR, maybe they have to pass a little stricter QC test. Ive noticed the gear mesh is MUCH better on these for the most part.

I'm a big fan of the white, grey and red chassis.... I also think they better made than the standard. They seem to run better at lower speeds too, they glide.

About 4 years ago I bought a blueprinted AFX magnatraction chassis from a guy and it was like one of those K-C Jets. Gears were already lapped in. I got a red chassis but you could get other colors (yellow, blue, green) as he was casting them. The axles were square to the chassis and total cost minus body was about $40. I believe he had made his own chassis mold. That car is by far the best magnatraction I have. Runs smooth and handles like crazy. It came with the wide AFX front rims and tires and stock AFX mag rear rims with slip-on silicones. Wish I still had his email address. Anyone ever seen or heard of these? Or better yet know who was making them or contact info?:)
