View Full Version : Flying sub outside hidden switch
kidcury 05-26-2009, 08:38 AM Finaly figured out how to have the interior lights switch on the outside of the model and have it hidden. I have the wire coming out of the bottom of the sub where the stand fits. the battery box (switch ) will be hidden under the stand , that is why i painted it , once placed underneath at the back end you cant see it at all. I thought it was shame to put the switch in the tunnel after all the work i put in detailing it. Kidcury
WEAPON X 05-26-2009, 09:11 AM Kidcury question, Did you paint the cabin deck floor?
Cajjunwolfman 05-26-2009, 10:36 AM kidcury:
I notice the base of your model looks like you applied a decal. Is that how you did it? Did the decal come with the kit or was it aftermarket? My FS did not have decals, so I was wondering if I should have gotten one?
falcondesigns 05-26-2009, 10:54 AM no decals.................

kidcury 05-27-2009, 10:59 AM No i didnt get any decals with the kit and its not an after market product, i cut the letering from the side of the box, then peeled the cardboard off leaving a thin layer ,then i lightly sanded the back to remove cardboard fibers(especialy around the edges) thenstuck it to the inside of the base using clear paper glue. I do this technique with a lot of my models that need atitle on the base. Some people can make stuff like this by downloading from the internet and making sticky labels, like you would for a dvd or cd.I dont have any of the equipment for doing it like that so i do it the old fashiond way. kidcury 05-27-2009, 11:17 AM To Weapon x , yes i did paint the flying sub floor, I did the oposite of what the instructions recomended, i painted the underside ofthe floor with a mix of blue and metalic silver enamel, Humbrol gloss blue number15 and Humbrol metalic silver number 56 Then i painted the three floor reactor panels a thined down biege, so the lighting would show through. Again the oposite of what the insructions said ,i painted these panels on the top side of the floor. And thefloor hatch panel was painted grey on the top side . I did the same technique with the base painting inside the base. The floor and the base were painted by brush , not spray can or air brush, oh what we poor people have to endureto get a decent finish. Kidcury

dazzo 05-31-2009, 05:27 AM Nice job KC,just getting started on mine.
steve123 05-31-2009, 08:50 PM Nice build, but, what did you do in the tunnel that you didn't do in the main room? I don't see alot going on in there. I was thinking when I saw "hidden switch" that it would be in a hatch wheel or something...
